Big Brother 11’ s launch last night achieved an average audience of 5.0m viewers, 22% share, peaking at 5.9m at 10pm.

The last ever Big Brother launch show beat all the other terrestrial channels.

Up against BB11’s launch last night:

BBC1 - Junior Apprentice got 4.2m viewers.
BBC2 - Make Me a New Face: A New Hope for Africa’s Hidden Children got 1.6m viewers.
ITV1 - Father & Son got 3.7m viewers.
Five - NCIS got 2.0m Inds.

Last night’s rating of 5m viewers made BB11’s launch the third highest rating programme on Channel 4, so far this year.

Big Brother.

I was expecting a hell of a lot more tbh, only .8m more than The Apprentice isn't a good sign with the World Cup coming up. The Apprentice wasn't even a final or anything.

Are C4 happy with this, Blagger? What were they expecting?

it actually peaked at 5.9 million and the officials havnt been released yet, neither has +1 been added :)

Stu
10-06-2010, 11:45 AM
The peak is what represents the advertising really. The average is mostly people who will always have watched the full show.

If the peak was good, the advertising was good, as more people dipped in to see whats going on.

Now will they stick with it ...

If any other show got 5.9 million on c4 it would be considered a huuuuge hit

Stop comparing old figures and see this for what it is. A ratings success

It got an average of 5.1m, officials will bring towwards 5.6m (as more people have Sky+ etc..) which would be good :)
And the peak with the officials and +1 will surely be quite high.

People can ask for past information if they so choose. Why don't you bugger off for a bit?

It could get 10 million viewers, but if it's costing more than it's making (and it is) then it's no use to them

They should be overjoyed with that, BB hasn't topped the ratings in years.

Comparing to past years becomes increasingly irrelevent tbh. Peoples viewing habits have changed and youngsters now prefer the internet. So we're never gonna get back to the huge ratings of the past.

They came out top of the ratings for the night. That is a huge success and all anybody can expect.

Its obviously alot more than 5 Million though, because they don't count every single box in the UK just ****ing barb boxes.

So it got alot higher than this but yeah well done Big Brother.

I expect a big dip in the ratings tonight, can't say I blame people for switching off after that horrible launch but yeah hopefully things will improve even more if this series can take off into the media as usuall and bring in more attention.

If it can stay talked about and mostly above 3 Million every night then im very happy.

No, it didn't get a lot higher. It could have gotten a lot lower for all you know. BARB boxes are the same for every show and represent a microcosm of the viewing public. You can't monitor the television habits of every home in Britain so stop complaining about it.

It's not some BARB conspiracy against BB. BGT, X Factor and the lot all get judged on BARB too.

Thats great news brilliant figures sometimes i think some of the absolute cockmonglers that post on this board just to annoy people would have preferred it to fail just to give themselves ammo.
