Seriously sol, you're not missing much. They were a group of singing sisters in the 70s and early 80s. They sang really tacky cheesy songs. Have you ever heard "I'm in the mood for dancing?" That was one of theirs. Actually, I think one of them is in The Bill now.

The Conways remind me of a cross between The Nolans and The Corrs. Probably not bad singers to be fair, but boring, and I really don't think there's a gap in the market for that type of group. I'm still glad that they didn't go last night though - I would've hated Simon to have lost another act!

LMAO.. U echoed my exact thoughts there Ruth, when u said you felt old. I was just about to reply to Sol, when I read on and saw what you wrote!

I dunno if I would compare The Conways to The Nolans, but I would say they are a poor-man's Corrs. The corrs are incredibly dull, but at least they have great singing voices, and in my female opinion, are very good looking girls. The Conways have none of the above!

PS. Obviously I wasn't including the bloke when I called them "good looking girls"

Actually, he is not so good looking as the girls..

I really like The Conways.

I think with the right song they can be fantastic...You Raise Me Up was excellent IMO. I wasn't overly impressed with Total Eclipse but that really isn't a four-part harmony song (albeit only two of the foru at most ever sing!).

And well I blame Simon for the crap song on Week 1. With the right song these girls can be fantastic. I have their album, it's great.

The blonde one doesn't do much singing, does she? She must be the Posh Spice of the group.

Well I've had their album and stuff since before they went on the show so...no. I've always quite liked them, tbh I don't like them as much on the show.

They don't suit doing covers and all that stuff...

I think their take on the idea of 'harmony' is really quite novel. It has much in common with my ability to juggle elephants, in fact.

I'm sorry, Scoobs - I promise I'll be kinder to elephants in future.

The Conway sisters are crap, nearly as bad as Chico imo

I think that the Conway's are talented but not as talented as Maria, yes, i would compare them to a poor-man's Corrs too, and im surprised that the judges havent picked up the Corrs vibe yet :conf:

Maybe its cause they know they aint up to their standard - shhhhh

But nah, they're still one of my faves, I think i want Brenda to win most now

I really don't like their voices or attitude.

Ruth
13-11-2005, 03:36 PM
No, I don't like their attitude either. They were really not happy about Simon criticising them, but he was just being honest.

CharlotteSometimes

I think their attitude is their only real asset.

Ruth

I do like people who are not afraid to stand up for themselves, but they threw their teddy out of the pram and refused to let Simon mentor them this week, just because he rightly criticised their performance last week. I mean, do they expect him to lie to them or something?

CharlotteSometimes

Did that really happen, though? They were off being pampered at Simon's expense midweek, whilst he was (almost certainly) in America doing stuff for AI. And at rehearsals, the voice coach from Simon's team was there working with them. Other than choosing the song without his input, perhaps, they were hardly left to their own devices.

I like them, But they should NOT in a million years have beaten Maria

Pipergun

Yeah, I do feel sorry for them in that they couldn't control Louis' casting vote, and therefore had to suffer all of the cat-calling for a decision that they couldn't control

They're going to be remembered as the "act that didn't deserve to get through" and nobody wants that burden!

CharlotteSometimes
16-11-2005, 06:01 AM
True, but before that they were always going to be remembered as "the act that didn't deserve to be in the finals in the first place".

I think Louis played a very clever move last Saturday. I've not been able to imagine a final without two from Maria, Andy & Shayne since the first week. For me, he's eliminated Shayne's biggest threat.

Pipergun
16-11-2005, 07:00 AM
Never thought of that! God that makes me angry! :bored: Did you see how Shayne jumped around shouting "Come on, come on!" when he got through?? Getting a little bit too cocky for my liking!

Well, never mind, they won't win anyway. Will they???

I think they'll last another week, because I think that people are going to anti-vote them and then Chico will get left behind.

I'd be amazed if we didn't see Chico, the Conway Sisters & Nicholas leave in the next three weeks, but I don't know in what order. I think Brenda will go after that, and then Journey South, leaving a Shayne & Andy final. But there are always plenty of crazy outcomes on shows like this, so god knows what the next bizarre twist will be.

I think the Conways could stick it for at least another week with the sympathy vote - imagine they'll play a "heart-wrenching" video just before their performance :spin:

LOL! Yeah, I meant Nicholas. Still, they're much of a muchness to me, anyway. I'll edit my own post and then claim that you edited the quote - that should work!

Yeah, if I had to guess, I'd say the same thing. I reckon Andy and Shayne will be the last two. I did think Maria would have been in the last two, but sadly it wasn't to be. But as you - so many twists, so who knows?
