We have a good chance if we play to the same tempo as yesterday and get a bit of luck.

Well im English, i will always support my nation to win a tournament.

The win against Argentina has only consolidated my beliefs. We have a great squad, arguably the greatest midfield in the world.

Beckham - As much as you slate him, he delivers. He is the best crossers/ free kick taker in the world, by far and nobody in there right mind can dispute that.

Gerrard - Has guided Liverpool to winning the Champions League, almost single handedly at times. Great shot, passing range and stamina.

Lampard - Top scorer this season and can score for fun, not afraid to get stuck in and again is a great passer and attacking midfielder.

Then we have players on the fringe of becoming world class.

Joe Cole
Jermaine Jenas
Keiron Dyer
Ledley King

Match that with the best defence in the world when fully fit and i personallty think semi-finals would be the least we should get out of the world cup.

I think we should play 3-5-2 though.

Robinson
Terry Ferdinand Campbell

King
Beckham Cole
Gerrard Lampard
Owen Rooney

I would love us to win, but just don't see it somehow. We do have some great players, but we're certainly not alone in that.

Yeah i have to agree with Rob We have the talent but something usually happens to knock us down if we had the belief I believe we could do it but as always we will go out on penalities:sleep:

The Brazil squad is by far the strongest- Kaka, Ronaldinho, Adriano, Ronaldo etc

Quite frankly, no. Although we do have the skill to produce a good perfomance such as the one against Argentina, we are not consistent enough to beat quality teams like France, Brazil, Italy Spain etc. time and time again without fail. Sven will always slip up by the Quarters, Semis max.

i agree with ya jrc.

i think england will be able to beat france tho.

I'd like to think that we have a chance, but realistically, with the likes of Rooney on the team who, granted can score goals, but can hardly keep they're temper, there's going to need to be a lot of luck on our side if we're to win.

However, I hope, and expect, that we should hopefully get to the knockout stages!

(If anything I've said is absolutely stupid, don't mind me I'm not really clued up with how the stages work in footie! Shame on me! :bawling:

I'm just hoping Wayne Rooney can control himself during the world cup, we all know that if he stays out of trouble on the pitch he will be one of the stars throughout the tournament.

That's the thing - He's talented... but he knows it! :nono: In his mind he probs thinks that he can get away with anything because people seem to think he's super-human. IMO he needs to be brought down with a bump! :spin2:

Brazil worry me the most.

Robinho, Ronaldo, Ronaldinio and Kaka will be most probably be their attacking players on the pitch.

You missed out Adriano :joker:

They will likely win, especially as Holland have the group of death as well

Brazil are so attacking, even the CB's play up front half the time.

Rogerio Ceni even takes penalties. He may go as number 3 keeper, but I doubt he will get penalty duties, unlike Chilavert used too for Paraguay.

Now that Svens going, I think that will ruin our chances.

I just think now.
SVENGATE has ruined everything.
The papers and there undercover people.
Its there fault if we dont win it.
They should just let him lead his life.

Good point, it's very disturbing that our press can be so evil at times..they should of kept their noses out of his business, instead they have unsettled the England boys leading up to the most important tournament in world football. I can't help but think that Sven leaving will be a distraction come Germany

Why do the English papers do this?

I have no idea why they would want to ruin England's chances :puzzled:

It's like these people would take delight from an England failure? :puzzled:

Get rid of Sven now and put either Venables or Bobby Robson in charge for the World Cup. They would win it.

It's nto what we need.

Michael Owen has already come out and said it isn't ideal and that must be what most of the team must be thinking. Again were being made to look a laughing stock because of our national press.

With papers like 'The Sun' and 'The News of The World' we wont win the World Cup because they always throw a spanner in the works. This is the best squad we have had for years and for some reason we're having to deal with this crap.

We'll be lucky to make it past the group stages.

Thats the thing, we always do the hard part and qualify but then we mess up our chances through stupid things like this.

If we win the cup i'd be hugely suprised but we are not there to just make up the numbers and have a sing song. We have some of the best talent in the world and will do for many years with players like Walcott, Nolan and Carrick progressing.

Will never understand the English press. It's like they don't want their teams to do well.
