1. Band Info
Avenged Sevenfold are an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1999.
The band's name is a reference to the Book of Genesis in the Bible – specifically Genesis 4:24, where Cain is sentenced to life in exile for murdering his brother. God marked him so that none would kill him on account of his sin; the man who dared to kill Cain would suffer "vengeance seven times over" (KJV). The abbreviation "A7X" for their band name was the idea of guitarist Zacky Vengeance.
They emerged with a metalcore sound on their first two albums, but later changed their musical style into a more hard rock approach with City of Evil. The band themselves have received much credit for their worldwide mainstream success and were most notably proclaimed as one of the leaders and key bands in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal and were featured as second place on Ultimate Guitar's Top Ten Bands of the Decade.
After playing Ozzfest in 2006, Avenged Sevenfold memorably beat out R&B Singers Rihanna and Chris Brown, Panic! at the Disco, Angels and Airwaves and James Blunt for the title of Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards, thanks in part to their Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas-inspired song “Bat Country.”
The band sports a logo known as the "Deathbat". It was originally designed by an artistic high school friend of Avenged Sevenfold, Micah Montague, as seen on the band's first DVD, All Excess. The Deathbat has appeared on all of the band's album covers, many of which were done by Cameron Rackam, a close friend of the band. The Deathbat has developed from just being a skull with bat wings, to sometimes appear as a full "man size" skeleton with bat wings, as it can be seen at the cover of City of Evil. On Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, there are pictures of two people (in which appear to be Cain and Abel), another angel-like human and a semi-opaque Deathbat below it, several Deathbats appear on the back cover of the album as well. The Deathbat also appears on covers of number of singles such as "Bat Country", "Warmness on the Soul" and "Critical Acclaim".

3. Death of The Rev
On December 28, 2009, drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan was found dead at his home at the age of 28. Autopsy results were inconclusive but it was not until June 9th, 2010 that the cause of death was revealed to have been an "acute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Diazepam/Nordiazepam and ethanol".
On February 17, 2010, Avenged Sevenfold stated that they had entered the studio, along with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, to drum for the record, in place of the Rev.
4. Masterpieces
I Won't See You Tonight Part 1
It is about their former bassist Justin Sane, who wrote a suicide note and tried to kill himself. He eventually left the band. Some of the lyrics are from the suicide note. This song is from the suicidal person's view, using orchestra and other instruments for a sad-themed masterpiece.

The composition is perfect, the orchestra, vocals, guitar, and drums are all really clever in this masterpiece.

A Little Piece of Heaven
The meaning of this song is quite strange. It's about violent love, and is quite crazy. The vocals and orchestra are very crazy, but in a clever way, and the lyrics are very clever, in this masterpiece.

This song is about war, and how bad it is on our Planet. It's mixed with sad and angry emotions, and I have to say, the solo in the middle is BRILLIANT. There is also a nice bit of acoustics at the end.

Lastly, this one is quite heavier than the rest, but fast-paced and energetic. The drums and guitar are simply amazing in my opinion.

Yeah I know that. I watched the all excess thing and read about them, I just can't find anything about her role now. She's still managing things? I know they had a kid and I know Michelle manages Synyster's clothing line.

I'm not a fan of Waking the Fallen or Sounding the Seventh Trumpet to be honest.. I think City of Evil and the self-titled are their best albums... I only like about 3 or 4 tracks on WtF.
I like Nightmare and Hail to the King, but they pale in comparison to the self-titled.. it's my favourite. Gunslinger is one of my favourite tracks off it.

So M shadows being a gamer gig (he joins online teams and worldwide competitions. Dude is serious) just spend 2 years developping a game with game designers and apple. He took inspiration from his favorite game zelda. Some level are based on the songs, ie unholy confessions and you have to battle through it. Each a7x member has their own weapon and phrases (which they all recorded when they were drunk-synyster gates :laugh:) You also can unlock the REV and when you do REV is pretty much unbeatable. He's definitely the joker of the band. And he gets it all from papa gates. Once you see papa gates you knows synysters is definitely his son. M shadows the serious, all about business but then he is crazy as well . Remember he was an anti social kid but he just knows when it's time to be business. And yeah zacky is a total sweetheart, and shy and awkward, Johnny is special. They love to take the piss out of him because he's short but then he's the troublemaker as well. When they were young and he wasn't the bassist yet, he used to go over to Matt's garage and tell them they suck. So when the old bassist had to leave (the one that inspired won't see you tonight part 1 and 2) they called johnny and asked if he could cover for the bassist because they had 3 days left of touring to do. So johnny quit high school right away and the rest is history.

Papa gates has been a comedian, guitarist for decades. He did some of the guitar work in the song Car wash and some other songs you might know.
Recently he toured with Jeff Dunham (the man that has that puppet that says it's me I kill you) and he got known as the guitar guy. Here's is the best thing, he does a lot of guitar work with the boys. The outro solos to sidewinder, coming home he did them. and he's done more work along the way. He does some youtube videos too. In that long interview, you saw the papa gates bit right, when syn joked that his dad begged for autographs? I love their relationship :laugh:

They really put time and effort in it. It's not just some cheap looking game with their name on it. I wouldn't be surprised if M shadows gave up singing for game designing. He said when he's not singing he's gaming all day long under an alias. And on his gamecard 70% people don't like to play against him because he talks a lot of smack and is very good. ^^the game is getting good reviews. Even with those that aren't fans. And a funny thing you Rob Flynn of Machine head has been saying since last year "well done to avenged for their cover album (hail to the king)". Avenged have said in this album they were slowing down a bit and have influences from older bands but some people like Flynn have said they just completely ripped them off. Anyways nobody cares too much about him as he's been quite irrelevant but in the game there is an evil character called Flynn troll :hehe: Someone asked Matt about that if it was in reference to anyone and he replied "I don't know what you're talking about?" :hehe:

It’s with great sadness in our hearts that we write this message to you all. An integral part of our A7X family has passed away. Craig Aaronson was one of the driving forces behind our decision to sign with Warner Brothers Records back in 2004 along with Tom Whalley and Andy Olyphant. We had heard horror stories about independent bands signing with major labels so when we first met Craig we were skeptical. We ended up trusting him and Warner Brothers Records and in the end we are glad that we did. Craig had not only been a personal friend to us through the years, but also helped spearhead many of the bands successes, including allowing us to have complete creative control throughout all of our albums. No matter what we handed into the label he would get behind it and go to work. Our manager Larry Jacobson has always said working with Craig was like working with a partner, always agreeable even when you disagreed, and because of that, A7X and WBR got so many good things done together.
A couple of years ago Craig left Warner Brothers to do other things, we were saddened by his decision but realized he needed to move on. A few months later we were informed that Craig had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. While on chemo Craig still made it out to our Hail to the King album release show in Los Angeles earlier this year. We were all blown away by his dedication and will to live. Sadly, yesterday he lost the battle against cancer. He is survived by an amazing wife and kids. We will always be grateful to Craig and everything he has done for us. He has done the same for many other countless bands and without a doubt will be sorely missed. Thank you for everything Craig.

Jason Berry made them for Matt, Brian, Johnny, Zacky, Matt Berry, Dan Abell & Himself after Jimmy died. They’re made from pieces of Jimmy’s drum kit.
I asked Dan what it was, he told me it was solid steel and handed it to me only when I asked why he wore it did he tell me that I was holding something of Jimmys, Something that had been so incredibly important to one of my heros, at that point I had to hand it back to him because I didn’t feel worthy enough to hold something of his.
It’s funny how moments like that will affect you & how you will never forget how something felt and what you thought about at that moment…
