Yes people on the boards -are- that nasty. They don't care about the h.ms at all; a lot are only interested in seeing them go through as much crap as possible, some like to say what they'd do the this house mate or that house mate if they ever got the chance.

It's disgraceful and irresponsible. If we knew someone in the house personally, we'd be really angry at some of the crap hurled at the h.m's every year.

The problem is that no-one sees these people as people, they're just entertainment fodder, and as long as we don't know them personally and therefore -don't- care about them, it makes no difference how we treat them, right?. Wrong. Because just because we don't know them personally -does not- mean we can treat them any way we like, and if they shoe was on the other foot people would be going berserk about how their relative or friend was being treated.

Empathy is in very short supply on the message boards, either here or on the C4 BB one, and probably Digital spy.

between the depressing negativity, endless trolling, and moronic attention seeking these forums are usually borderline cesspit.

if i didnt know a precious few good folks came here, and I was a stranger looking in, I would think only juvenile ******* used them as substitute therapy for their own self esteem issues as well.

Digital Spy is the worst, it's the gutter. That gives a bad image. The problem is some people want to flount their prejudices instead of just looking at it as a TV show. Endemol make the HMs into stereotypical images through their promotions and encourage hatred in their stories and programs (like Big Mouth).

No, I don't think I bully HMs. I will comment on how they are on the show but I don't pretend I know them in real life.

I don't think I am nasty about HM's, I usually use an example of somehting they have done or said to illustrate why I don;t like them. I don't hate any housemates, have come close to intense dislike tho!

They are on a reality TV show and know the score, so it should not come as a shock to them that not everyone will like them.

Universal popularity just is not going to happen. :D

Endemol manipulate the public though with how to view HMs. Mainly in a negative way (big eviction votes get them the money), but a very few HMs in a positive way as well. Just watch BBBM and see it.

We in general are quite nasty to some of the housemates, we are doing what the HMs are doing, just that we can see them 24/7.

Forums now are filled with negativity. eg. I hate so and so..., or "Get someone out!" we always have to be nagative, but thats how forums go,.

lol, if you guys think this forum is harsh you should see 'SurvivorSucks'. They have a big 'Big Brother' discussion forum there (they also discuss BB UK). Last year during BBUS was crazy. Some people took things waaay to far by making death threats and stuff towards the housemates and attacking every aspect of their lives. People are reallly cruel.

I still love that board though because the members are effing hilarious, but some are a bit mad.
