Its hard to believe, but today is the anniversary of the death of the biggest pop star in history. How time flies.
Nice to see that since then he has sold more than 9 millions albums and nearly 13 million digital tracks in the U.S. Like I ve read somewhere someone wrote, "I think what happened in the past year is that people focused on Jackson's music for the first time in many years, and remembered how much they liked it. Sadly, it took Jackson's death for people to look past all the controversies--large and small, troubling and trivial--that turned a lot of people off."

Couldn't be truer! Rest in Peace, may the earth of our ancestors lay gently over him, and May the afterlife show him mercy.

And for his fans in london, there is a vigil later today outside the o2. ill probably go pay my respect!

I feel slightly desensitised by the public outpouring of sentimentality following his death. It's been another one of those Princess Diana things. It's great that people recognise Off the Wall and Thriller as the reasons Jackson became a star in the first place, but nearly everything he did thereafter really tarnished his legacy. "Heal the World" and "The Earth Song" are not my cup of tea.

The music industry will never be the same without him! He is a big loss!

*plays only MJ/Jackson 5 songs for the rest of the day*

I watched a programme last night on BBC2, the Culture Show, which was a special dedicated to him. It's just amazing how he dominated pop for so long.

R.I.P. what an icon :(

Did you know the father of his first accuser, Jordan Chandler, committed suicide, last November. A few month after MIchael died! hmmmmm.., I wonder why!!!:conf:

I'm going to assume the unnecessary inclusion of a spelling bee sting was your petty way of expressing annoyance/attempt to make yourself feel better about spinning a child molesters records.

*I've.

Just a correction. You do it a lot and it bugs me :p

And far be it to express annoyance at the silly and predictable "paedo" comments when, GET THIS :O, HE WAS PROVEN INNOCENT.

But no, it doesn't matter. Because he "was weird" and paid off witnesses. Damage limitation maybe? Maybe he was a paedophile. But it's not known, and never will be, so the silly assumptions aren't going to do anything other than piss people off.

I think a lot of dodgy things were going on in both the legal and personal lives of one Mr. Michael Jackson. It's just my view. The real problem here is that it's an artist you like. That's why it annoys you when people ruin the MJ WankFest to offer up ... oh **** it ... let's say .. an opposing view to the whole thing. My comment was silly from the standpoint of you not wanting a detractor to crash the Jackson Party, yes, and was about as predictable as the barrage of comments proclaiming wuv and kisses to MJ, yes.

Well I'm not saying you have to join in the wuv and kisses but there's still an air of 'trolling' about when people throw up the "paedo" card - and for me it's irritating because it's always a grey area. There're the ones who make jokes about it and that's fine, but there's definitely a difficulty in separating those from the ones who genuinely believe he was a child molestor, and all sorts of other crap.

The fact of the matter is that nobody KNOWS what he did - and whilst there's evidence that looks suspicious, in terms of the "paying off witnesses" stuff, I think that actually goes in his favour.

The father of the main defendant - I don't know his name - was paid off. If your child was touched up by the world's biggest celebrity, would you carry on letting him be successful and adored for a few million dollars despite your son's victim status? Of course you wouldn't, unless you're Karen Matthews.

As for the "well why did he pay him if he's innocent?" argument - either way this was a legal case that was damaging his reputation. Paying them off and getting it over with quickly is a much better alternative to leaving it to the jury to decide.
