7ft isn't that big for an X-mas tree, though. It's big, don't get me wrong, just not massive.
djdan789
06-12-2005, 08:36 PM
Lol i used to have a smaller (6ft) one but the 'kittens' destroyed it - they used to climb up it and sit in it until it fell down, but they are older now and don't seem to have the energy to climb up it...yet!

What some forget, while they tuck into their festive treats, are those who endure another season thinking about those we have lost and are no longer with us. Watching those we have, for whom this could be their last.
It also comes when the light levels are at their lowest, and people with SAD are made tofeel guilty because they are not in the party mood.
While the world is partying on, such people are the spectre at the feast, best keep them out of the way, so we don't spoil the mood.
Christmas for some, is a time to dread.
Anyone remember the lyrics to do they know it's Christmas?

I do understand and sympathise with a lot of what you have said Sticks BUT we also need to remember that those whole love christmas should not be made to feel guilty about it!
Many many of us have lost loved ones - I myself suffer with SAD but do not let it mar my families christmas, instead I take steps to ensure that I dont!

So what coping strategy do you use?
When it the day itself, I am normally visiting my parents in Yorkshire and I try and hide away working on Dad's PC.
Other times it is just hiding from the world.

Here is what should be a contender for the Christmas number 1
Link (http://www.golakes.co.uk/xmasbaarmysheep/)
A former co-worker of mine died last weekend, but I will not be able to make the funeral on Friday as I will be travelling down that morning to visit my parents for Christmas.
:bawling:
Also one of my parent's pet dogs died this year, and mum is quite ill. It just feels that this will be a fairly bleak Christmas, plus a stinking cold does not help. :bawling:

Sticks - you asked about coping strategies in the winter esecially at this time of year.
Well here is how I cope:
I use my diary a lot to get out some of the negative thoughts
I talk to my close friends and family before things get bad so they can help
I try to make myself do something festive everyday - so I buy presents a couple at a time - i enjoy watching my kids at christmas
I listen to christmas music - none of that MUD it will be lonely stuff though :nono: got to be able to dance to it to get the endorphins going
I use relaxation breathing techniques - when feeling panicky
I have refelxology - lucky enough to have a friend who does this
I also have a light box - fantastic yes expensive but worth every penny
Thats just a couple of the things that I do could go on and on
Hope that you cope ok with the festive season Sticks and that things are not to bad for you
