Sooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooooo guttered Brenda is going home and sooooooo soooooo angry Shayne and Andy are staying over her.
I want JS to win now but now Brenda's out i won't be watchng the final. Once Maria was voted off i only weatched it for Brenda and now the final won't be the same and there is no way ill be watching.

im not that shocked my two favs are still in shayne and journey south:dance:
I was SO surprised that Andy got through. He was definitely the weakest tonight. Maybe his fans knew that he was thought the most likely to go, so they voted in their droves. When it was down to Brenda and Journey South, I was hoping JS would get through, because I really want them in the final, but I honestly thought that Brenda would be the one to go through. To be honest, I was surprised when Kate said that Andy was through to next week, because I fully expected him to be going.
Did anyone else see how shocked Kate looked when she read the results for the first time after they handed her the card? As soon as I saw her face, I knew somebody unexpected would be going out.
I think Brenda guessed that she would be going as well, because when kate read Andy's name out (and he looked as shocked as anyone), Brenda hugged him and told him to go on and win it.
Journey South to win!
im not a Brenda fan but she didn't deserve to go Andy should have but oh well JS are still there so im pleased

I was surprised, because I thought even before the show that it would be Andy that went home. I missed his second song, but after his first I thought he was a dead cert. to leave. Still, Brenda was the third best act on the night, so it wasn't a massive shock, really.
You really think she was third best? *Yay I'm back on. >_> For today.* Shocked though I am, I knew that one of Sharon's acts would be going as they always fix it. But still, I thought it would be Andy, he really was the worst by far. Now I'm backing Journey South, as they can at least sing + play their own music, rather than depending on other people to provide the backing. Andy really wasn't good, and Shayne... ugh...
I was a bit suprised it was Brenda leaving but I did have a feeling that she might go.
bad decision, Andy should've gone this week

I don't think any of the three finalists deserve to win. I can see whoever winning fading away into obscurity. Reminds me just a tad of last year.
What is the problem with normal women with great voices winning these shows in the UK? In the most of cases the women have outclassed the men in the talentstakes but yet fail to win unless they are 20+ stone mammoths.
Shame really... because now they have the "loser" tg a lot of them will get no-where despite the bags of talent they possess.
I know why it is except i may offend if i say the reason. Actually I shouldnt offend anyone so I will say:
I think its just because most people who vote are teenage girls and they just say to themselves "lets vote for the one that looks the fittest" meaning the women have no chance.
I cant find any other reason why Brenda was voted out, I think that her and Shayne were the best on Saturday. Andy should've gone.
I fully agree with you Sol!
Seriously, it should have been a Brenda/Maria/Journey South final. But no, of course it was never going to be.

A complete travesty.
The lass could knock the socks off any of the others.
Shane did do pretty well last night. I think we can assume him or J south have it in the bag for the reasons Sol mentioned above.
Dear me. So sad.
Sorry, I don't see Shane with a big career.

Yes.
Well they did last Saturday night. I only looked up from my crossword a few times, and saw a violinist and a rather large choir, for starters ...

That doesn't explain last year's winner though, does it? Do you really think that teenage girls were voting in huge numbers for brookstain? He won on the housewives' vote, if anything. That also explains why his 'career' was over before it started, and why his album was a complete flop.
I dont know about last year CharlotteSometimes, its just my theory on saturday's voting

I think that may have played a part in it sol, but not all teenage girls have minds that work like that.
And it's not just teenage girls who watch the show, either.

Well with what Charlotte is saying if mostly housewives vote then I can see Andy winning

no no, of course it isnt, im not being chauvenistic or nothing its just that is probably the reason. I know that a lot of teenage girls wont vote like that at all, but the fact is that the teenage grls who do do that, are enough to tip the vote in favour of Shayne and JS etc... if you understand what im getting at, im not being nasty or anything :spin:

It's not teenage girls, or housewives, that vote most - it's women in general. But probably those two groups more than any other, as they're the most likely to be at home on Saturday nights.
Teenage girls aren't likely to vote for Journey South, as they're too old and middle of the road. But they've got the housewives' vote in the bag, for sure. Shayne will pick up votes across the board, but Andy seems to have the narrowest fanbase of all.
The poll on GMTV earlier today had Journey South at 43%, Shayne at 40% and Andy at 17%. The bookies have Shayne as favourite - his shortest odds are 8/15, and his longest are 8/11. Journey South aren't far behind, with shortest odds of 6/4 and longest odds of 2/1. Andy is miles behind - his best odds are 6/1, and his worst 17/2.
None of that takes song choices or performances on the night into account, though.
well either 3 of them can win it all depends on how good they are on the night

I'm pleased that the two acts I've supported from Day 1 (Shayne and Journey South) are through to the final. I don't mind which of them wins, just as long as it's one of them!
BigSister
12-12-2005, 10:04 PM
Yeah I agree with Nicola but then again I supported the top 4 throughout the programme, Maria excepton, so really last week I was like dont want any of them to go
Journey South who ive supported from beginning are still there but this year all the acts have been really good
Yep there have been 7 or 8 who I have liked.
BigSister

*counts* Proably 5 this year but saying that last year I only liked 3
I think the only 2 i really disliked was Conways and Chico

Same Jamie oh no I didnt like Addictive Ladies either Chenai, Philip, 4tune I didnt really mind or Nicholas I liked him as well it was just stupid Louis
I think Chenai and Nicholas could have done better if Louis would have chosen songs to suit there voices

Well you never no depends on how well they all sing on saturday night
Had it been up to me, and me alone, Chenai would have stayed a little longer, as would Nicholas, and Chico + Conways would have taken their places, except Chenai would have gone the week Maria went. In turn, Maria would be in the last 4, with Andy coming fifth. I'd have put Shayne fourth, as I honestly don't think he's anything special. Maria 3rd, Brenda 2nd and JS 1st, despite my favourite being Brenda. I think that JS are far more talented and have been slogging it out for ages. Brenda entered on a whim, and she did exceptionally well. *salutes*
I probably want Shayne winning now as I think that he will be the most successful out of the final 3. I wouldnt mind if Journey South won but I dont want Andy to win

I like to see someone win who has an ability to sing various types of songs well and unfortunately although Andy can sing ballads well once he gets out of his comfort zone he loses something, so think either Shayne or Journey South should win over him. Cant wait to see how they fare in the next few months with regard to their careers. Going by past experience - will we remember them this time next year?

I have a feeling that now Brenda has gone it will be a tough race between journey south and Shane. Like busy bee said Andy is just not versatile enough to take it ( in my opinion )
Journey south have played a cunning north east card for votes last week though. They put on a free performance at the town hall but it was only going ahead if they got through last week!!!!

They dragged Simon along for that, too. He went on stage to say hello, ate some freaky local 'delicacy' that I've never heard of (the local paper seemed to find that point fascinating), visited their parents, and even nipped into JS' local - to use the bathroom. We've been saved one possible torture, at least. Apparently, they did a cover of The Jam's That's Entertainment, which nobody in their right minds should ever even dream of trying to cover.
I don't know about Andy & Sharon, but Shayne did exactly the same thing this week too, and took Louis along for the ride. Sharon has been busy on her book signing tour, of course. Rumour has it that Shayne was massively ahead last week, when Journey South turned in a better performance on the night. So unless he has a very, very bad night tomorrow, it looks like he has it in the bag.
I still have a feeling that JS could win it - although coming second often proves to be the preferable option!
I heard that votes for Shayne had actually been quite low after the first couple of weeks - but I don't know if that's true or not.

Well apparently, the infamous 'INSIDER!!!' (I have my tongue firmly planted in my cheek as I type) said that Shayne polled more votes than the others by a massive margin last week.

ALL of the bookies have Shayne ahead.
He's very narrowly ahead here (http://www.theinternetforum.co.uk/xfactor/index.php?vo=36). Journey South are ahead here (http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=315276), but that's a more 'adult' site and the number of people that have voted is quite low. Shayne is ahead here (http://www.xfactorwatch.co.uk/Index.aspx?ID=Polls), too. I can't find any others.

Shayne topped the Xtra factor poll after saturday night, that's a pretty big indicator imo.
It's not always good to be ahead in the polls though. if someone looks really likely to win, the fans of the other contestants will start to vote tons of times. I think this may be why Andy stayed last week - everyone thought he would go, and I reckon that his fans just voted over and over again.
Oh well, we'll know tomorrow anyway:colour:
I really don't want Andy or Shayne to win. Neither of them are entertaining. They can sing, but that's the extent of their abilities. Brenda was a performer + a singer. JS are musicians + singers, thus I now want them to win.

Brenda was a one-woman pantomime. Journey South never looked at all comfortable on stage, and the ability to play an instrument or not has nothing at all to do with this show.
