View Full Version : Loving Shabby, voting for Caiomhe

My favourite characters so far are Ben and Shabby. Nobody seems surprised that I like Ben. Contrary to what people presume, I spend more time with people like Shabby than I do with people like Ben. But Shabby is 'controversial' favourite apparently, so this could be an interesting debate. The main criticisms I've heard about Shabby are that she's bitchy and throws tantrums. Here's what I think...

All the housemates gossip: there isn't much else to do. But I get the sense Shabby is venting her anger, rather than being malicious/strategic. She doesn't get too personal, and often has a good point. I really like Ben, but I've also agreed with a lot of what Shabby has said about him. I think Caiomhe is the bitchier of the two, and bitching/smoking brings them closer together. Similarly, spending time with Bea brought out my bitchy side.

Shabby's tantrums irritate the other housemates. But some people's emotions are just wired that way, and the BB house is a very intense environment. While these reactions seem 'childish', they are involuntary and entertaining.

I think Shabby probably suffers from bi-polar disorder, or something similar. She gets extremely angry, but it doesn't seem like normal anger. She remains more lucid and logical than people typically do when experiencing that level of emotion. And while her anger is intense, it also seems a lot less 'personal' than if a normal person was that angry. Also, her housemates seem to be somewhat desensitised to her tantrums, which they wouldn't if they detected malice.

Her anger is intensified because she tends to suppress her sadness, a trait more common in men then women. The masque does slip through sometimes, particularly when she's angry/frustrated with Caiomhe. These have been (for me) the most touching moments of the show so far.

I doubt that Caiomhe's new-found attraction for Shabby is genuine. Shabby doesn't seem convinced either, but to doubt her friend's intentions publicly would be disloyal. Love-struck, but still no fool, she didn't try very hard to convince us in the diary room.

It'd be interesting to see how she acts if Caiomhe leaves tomorrow. While Caiomhe is a close friend, she has also been a huge source of frustration for Shabby. This source of frustration will be gone, and a 'good day' from Caiomhe may help tip her into a more positive spiral. Then we'll hopefully see a more positive side to Shabby.

Shabby has a lot going for her. Love her voice, could listen to her talk all day. Her clothes are awesome; it's a shame BB took her hat as it really suits her. Hope she gets it back on her 'good day'. She's argumentative, entertaining, creative, loyal and genuine. She's also is very perceptive, and her diary rooms are awesome. Not to everyone's taste it seems, but an excellent housemate. We'd be fools to vote her out this week.

I would also like to see more of Sunshine, but I doubt she'll be going. Caiomhe has my vote this week.

They're both knobs.

Though I do want Shabby kept in for the sake of the show; that said, if Caoimhe isn't there, she might just fade away and become boring.

Terrible call on the Ben thing Freddie, he is an entirely different animal to you and your probably doing yourself no favours drawing parallels between the two of you... He is obviously a machiavellian political manipulater that grooms, discards, and snipes.

Shabby though? She has grown on me massively the past week now we are seeing her stage school contrived shell fall away. She is actually lovely and funny when she lets herself be.

She won't win though unless BB actually start to show more of her then her tantrums. Thats seems to be their agenda for her though, so I wouldnt hold my breath.

Have to agree with all of this;

She has a lot going for her.

I think Sunshine will go after tonight sadly. I want Caoimhe out. She's no use. But then Shabby may walk too so....hm, tricky.

And...OMFG its Freddie in da house!! Hello there!

Agree on Shabby possibly suffering from Bipolar disorder Freddie, I was thinking this the other night when she had her tantrum in the nest.

I love her too, I think she's very entertaining.

I'm glad Ben has actually done what Alex Reid did and turn the boos he received on launch night to what I expect will be cheers when he leaves on his eviction and maybe perhaps tomorrow night when he walks out those doors.

Glad to hear you're voting for Caoimhe, we need to keep Shabby in the house until the end.
I think she is very misunderstood.

And welcome to TiBB Freddie!

I agree Freddie:). Shabby is a complicated and complex character, can be bitchy and who has a temper and can be childish when things don't go her way, there is a vulnerable side to her too and sometimes I do think she contrives and act things because I have that much of a split opinion on her, she's not a bad person at all IMHO:).

Its probably not a good idea to welcome Freddie and offer him sex when you have Bea as your SIG.

Shabby is a very selfish person, not really one of the better people in the house. I dislike Keeva more but Shabby does come out with some nasty things. I think they have been protecting her recently with sound cuts, and gave her a clue as to Keeva's errors in the DR.

Whilst I mostly agree with what Freddie says - I really don't think that Shabby has bi-polar disorder. Using a real, very serious mental illness to describe what is basically a toddler having a tantrum (Shabby) is highly inaccurate. I wish 'celebrities' wouldn't describe themselves as having bi-polar disorder as an excuse for bad behaviour. I have every sympathy for those people who do genuinely have this diagnosis such as Stephen Fry - as I know how debilitating and distressing the illness can be having lived with a close family member with this illness for some time.

So, perhaps we should describe Shabby as being 'highly emotional' or having a 'mood disorder' and leave the diagnosis out of it. If she really did have bi-polar disorder she would not have passed the screening to get in the BB house.

I'll get down off my high horse now :-)

I really hate the armchair amateur psychology that some use for HMs. I would say Keeva is very jealous and I really dislike her but I wouldn't necessarily go as far as saying she has a psychological illness. Ben does that about people as well, like about Sunshine. Freddie did last year about Noirin saying she was a sociopath. I really disliked Noirin but the show is about manipulating people in unusual cicrumstances and I wouldn't want to simplify people's real life personalities beyond the situation of Big Brother.

totally agree freddie! you're very insightful! LOL.

shabby has always been my favorite!

ben is so overrrated and boring at the moment!

ben is a poor sport, with no backbone, he proved it without even trying to complete the task.

remember, maro completed the impossible task!! corin and shabby completed challenging tasks as well.

ben is just a plastic princess, hates to get down and dirty! he thinks he is so much better than other housemates and always talks down to people, points out their flaws.

dave and mario keep follow him like a dog, so ben stays as a stuck up bitch!
