Starts on a Thursday?

I've just looked on me calender via the bottom right corner where the time is showing and it says January 5th is a Thursday....why does it start on a Thursday and not a Friday?

I don't know why it's starting on a Thursday, maybe they've got something else occupying the Friday slot?

It usually starts on a thursday cos I remember CBB2 starting when it was my GCSE awards evening

Ive always viewed it as starting on a friday in the summer cos it falls on a bank holiday weekend and it gives us 3 whole sleepless days/nights to get hooked.
In the winter with the hectic ratings wars a thursday is a better bet to atrract neutrals.
