theres two reasons for this.

1. i know bens opinion about not going to war with hitler was contreversal but the way steve acted was apalling.

he wouldnt let him have his say and called him pompous for not being in the war basically but what about nathan and dave who agreed with him?

2. the task with titan the way he shouted at him was cringy imo and annoying and ott.

I can understand Steve calling Ben pompous..cos he is sometimes... But you are right about the Titan task....I found that embarrasing too... especially when he kept saying "I'm the DADDY"... I think it was seen by him as his moment to shine and show a bit of personality.... but he needs to go...

Steve's just boring. Anything he talks about is himself basically going on about 'the wars' or how he's 'half man, half machine'

 Fed up with this **** talk.

Steve is entitled to his opinions! One minute people moan he doesn't do or say anything - then when he gets controversial - people still moan! Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't!

I think the thing with steve is he's realising it's a game and if he doesn't do something to get the camera on him then he'll be out. So with the Ben thing he suddenly jumped on him because It was a subject he felt he knew about - even though he actually misunderstood the point. and like Rusticgal said, he knew the camera was on him then and thought be better do something and try to be entertaining.

Ben's comments about the 1930s and WW2 are widely held revisionist views and not at all controversial. He is certainly entitled to hold his beliefs and not once did I hear him say he supported the nazis or Hitler as was widely and gleefully reported on this forum earlier by his haters. I imagine that Ben, being Jewish himself, would never condone the holocaust. The way I took his comments was that more could have been done in the way of diplomacy to avoid the conflict and knowing what we now know, who's to say he's wrong. Steve unfortunately just decided to take it as an attack on all those who had died in the war, when Ben was actually saying they needn't have died if war could have been avoided.

What Steve and Nathan took exception to were Ben's comments about Britain not being the policeman of the world and I think Ben is absolutely correct. Yes, we should help those countries that need our help if it is within our power and duty to do so, but too often we poke our nose in where it is not wanted and often make matters much worse. We do not have the manpower or financial resources to fight every country's battles.

The Bore Hero talking about the Bore War.

In all seriousness, I think there is something up with him...something not quite right there.

Ben is very articulate and makes a lot of sense in the many conversations he has or is allowed to have. Unfortunately his fellow HMs are so dumb and don't give him the opportunity to finish what he was trying to say. The worst part for me was when Steve said to Ben that he should be burnt at the stake. That was a terrible thing to say and just goes to show the low IQ Steve has.

I think Steve probably over-reacted for obvious reasons - and may have misunderstood Ben's point! It is clearly a very emotive subject for him!
But he doesn't deserve vilifying for that!

I do agree with Ben that we can't police the world and neither should we! We value our soldiers lives and don't want them taking any more risks than is necessary! The world's problems are not ours, or our soldiers' responsibility!

I think Steve simply didnt understand the logic behind Bens opinion and over reacted. Nothing much to that i suppose however it was in the way he shouted Ben down and the comments he made that make me dislike him a little.

Of course its not. Steve and others like him died to allow people to voice their opinions, Steve came back as terminator.

Steve's been conditioned to think the way he does about the armed forces and war!
That's ok!....It was part of his up-bringing!....I myself am a few years older than Steve , and was raised in a similar enviroment!(probably)...One where...20something years after the second world war had ended,...and all the old soldiers (my father and other relations included)...were to be respected and revered as The Brave Heros that saved the world from the menacing nazis!!....Hitler had to be stopped at all costs!!...And it was right!!!
Things were different in 'times gone by! Sanctions could not work then!

Since then though....imo...there has not been a reason to declare war or invade any foreign soil!!....Diplomacy and embargos do actually work!...And I believe that this point is what Ben , in his kack-handed way was trying to convey!!

And I also believe that Steve knew this...and just conveniently 'ignored the fact' in his bid to dis-credit a fellow competitor on a gameshow!!

Sure ! ...Steve may have joined up in the first place for all the right reasons!..And was very unfortunate to have suffered so much for his chosen cause!!
But...thank god that he survived and seems to be making the best of being dealt 'a **** hand'!....But it has also been a very long time since he was a soldier...long enough for him to have worked out the futility of avoidable wars!...And i'm sure that he has spent 'many hours' just pondering this , very point!!..Having 'first hand knowlege of the 'pain, suffering and loss' incurred by both Soldiers and the civilian population of the 'liberated?' zones!!...( decided by polititions, with their own agendas!..from the safety of their whitehouse/whitehall offices!!)

And so...for Steve (along with 'Popularist appealers Nathan and Dave!') to attack a 'fellow competitor ' , in such a manner?..using such a emotional tactic?....Well!....I must say ...that he's gone down a peg or two in my estimation of him!!

Bit lengthy I know!...And may go against the grain of popular thought!...But it's my opinion!.....And everyone's allowed to have one!...Even Ben..the bumbling lazy nice guy!

Thanks!
