View Full Version : Steven Has he changed?

Now I like and respect Steve but this past few days I have noticed a change in his behaviour when he's around Keeley. He seems to have become very cocky and arrogant which is at odds with the dignified and stoic figure he was when he first entered the house. Has Keeley given him a heads up on how he's perceived outside the house, and he is getting over-confident. She seems to have attached herself to him, and being a man he can't help but feel flattered even if he is aware she's just playing the game.
He keeps referring to himself in the third person as the Baron, and he is boasting how everyone in the house defers to him as the "leader". He was showing off to Keeley which was cringeworthy. On LF he was seen spelling out the word "Baron" (not sure what he was using), and he does seem to have let a bit of female attention and flattery go to his head.
Anyone else wondering whether Keeley's real intention is to undermine Steve? -she is already trying to steal his thunder by referring to herself as the "Baroness". If she's aware she will only be in for a week or two, what bigger target than Steve to bring down?

My god.. has Steve actually entered the story enough that we want to talk about him?
I was saying all this about him last night so, ofc, I agree.

he's become more cocky since last week
a little bit of nasty is popping through too
he's having a bitch too and wants to be known as the "Baron"
I think Keeley and rachel are a breathe of fresh air to him since Nathan left
cause i don't think he khas a friend in there(a close one like Ben/dave or JJ/josie)

Keeley has been watching and will know that Steve doesn't really have any close friends in the house - the other HMs are too much in awe of him or don't want to be the ones to upset him in any way (for obvious reasons).
If he just kept going the way he was he could easily fly under the radar through to the final, but if he changes too much I think it will damage his chances, as the viewers don't take kindly to leopards changing their spots (look at Freddie last year!).

I agree, but I think he needs to keep his distance from Keeley - I don't buy that she finds Steve's company that fascinating. She seems to have become over familiar with him in a very short space of time. He could end up making a fool of himself because of her.

Yes, it's like she has some hidden agenda. If that is the case I hope Steve realises this, in case (like you say) he doesn't make a fool of himself.

He's NOT the stoic, stiff upper lip, salt-of-the-earth, disabled british squaddie. We saw the real nasty side of Steve on Basketball fight night.

:joker::joker: He is just letting her know in his own bumbling way that he is the Boss ( or at least he thinks he is).
He sees her as a threat to his perceived role as leader in the house. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer strategy.
Him writing Baron out of the beads last night was a funny thing, perhaps he is trying to boost his own confidence, who knows.

If he was just quiet, everyone would complain how boring he is. If he says something, everyone is saying that he is arrogant old man. You never can win when you are white, elder hetero male. But if he was loudmouth under 30 lesbian, everyone would love her.

This Baron nonsense has turned his head, what started as a joke has escalated to the point where it looks like he believes it.

How can it be? Every teen is hating him already, so how it gonna be different anyway? At least some of us will get something out of that.

Exactly! He is human, like everyone else, we are none of us perfect and all have our flaws! Is he not allowed his because he is disabled? :nono: Will people only have empathy for him if he shows humility!

If it was JJ, then everyone would say "how lovely". But Steve is tough older (only 9 ears older than Keely) so it's not approwed by teen & gay audience. Brad Pitt : Age: 46. Born: December 18, 1963.
If it was him, then it would be ok for em.

I know a lot of people don't want Steve to win just because of his disability, but there will come a time when it will down to the public vote, and you can make your feelings known then. Till then, he is fulfilling his agenda for being in the house, which is to show that someone with his disabilities can cope and participate in day to day life, and to raise awareness for injured servicemen and women.
Whilst it is good to see him being more outgoing, there is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. He was even talking to Keeley about organising the house and keeping them all in line - which I can't see will go down well. The HMs will be able to seize on this as a reason to nominate him and this could happen sooner rather than later because of Steve's desire to impress Keeley.

But arrogance and cockiness are not attractive traits in anyone, able bodied or disabled. My point is that if these personality traits in Steve come to the fore he should and would be judged on them (not to do so would be extremely patronising and a form of positive discrimination). Keeley seems to be intent on encouraging this side of him which could spoil his chances in the house.

You may well be right - but I can't help thinking that he is just flattered by the attention of a good-looking woman and is just trying to 'man' himself up a bit! Without meaning to sound patronizing in any way - it probably doesn't happen to him very often!
He is competing with a lot of strong characters in there, and, as such, tends to slip off the radar most of the time - maybe he is now just grabbing his chance of a bit of air-time, mixed in with a bit of fun!
Not sure of Keeley's motives - but, as you say, she may simply be aiming to 'expose' and knock out the competition!

But she ain't actress. She does what she want. Not because teens love her or gay audience.

I neither find Steve funny or remptely entertaining, he has some really odd ideas and to me he's just like a grumpy old neighbour who is always complaining, the fact he has his eyes lit up with some new younger girls doesn'y impress me at all either,he was so miserable missong his kids the other day so he said.
