UTV understands an Orangeman in his 60s has been injured after being hit with a brick.

Police in north Belfast have already come under attack from rioters throwing petrol bombs and metal bars, amid appeals for calm from those carrying out a sit-down protest at Ardoyne.

A number of baton rounds have already been fired as officers try to get the situation under control. Three water cannons have also been sent to the area.

This time last year riots broke out in the same area which can be viewed here (E39BqNYAUr).

At least 50 people are staging the sit-down protest on the Upper Crumlin Road, while hundreds more onlookers have gathered to watch.
