View Full Version : Why the need for personal comments against housemates?

Whether it's about looks or weight etc it's only a TV show and IMO we should only be commenting on their behaviour in the house, so I don't think there is no need for it!:).

Because people are insecure, and mocking other people's looks etc is a diversion away from thinking about their own faults and failings. :)

Agree 100% but this does mean JJ would have about 2 supporters.

There is no need for it at all. I think that the housemates should be judged on what they do or say in the house, not for how they look or what they are like in the 'real' world. Some people can;t seem to think of a reason why they dont like someone unlless it involves an attack on looks.

We actually make a lot worse judgements in a lot less time IRL. We just have an anonymous forum and loads of time to talk about it in BB's case.

Imagine what the housemates families should be reading personal comments like Josie is fat or digs about Mario's sexuality etc:(, they would be fine if it's constructive criticism regarding what has happened in the house but personal comments sure aren't nice to read.

It really isnt necessary, its a personality show after all.

Go on BB and you should expect all hell and fury from viewers.
Even if youre Mother Theresa. Actually, especially if youre Mother Theresa. A thousand variations on where she should stick her bible and do gooding ways...I can see the posts in my head now.

Comments that are too personal make me uncomfortable. Especially if they are derogatory towards a person's appearance.

What about 'Horseface Grace'? That was funny. Admittedly started by an actual housemate, but it caught on.
Or Alexandra's giant cranium? Or was that just me?
I agree, it's below the belt.

Well Ive said that JJ seems to have nothing below his belt. If thats personal...tough!
Just more of a casual observation.

I agree with you. What a refreshing view on things. Some people on the forum take things too far.

ok, i'll make this as simple as possible. when a house mate, lets say corin for example, calls an inmate fake, then its fair game for posters to point out her fake hair, fake eyebrows, fake eyelashes, fake tan, fake tits, fake nails etc.
so they deserve some truths or in your logic, attacks.
btw are you the speech police? if you dont like freedom of speech, perhaps youd be happier in communist china, speech censorship is rife out there.
PS i hope that helps you understand.

The hm's do know what they're letting themselves in for and people will criticize their looks etc as it is about the hm's after all.

I don't think that communist style censorship is where the OP was going. Bit of a knee-jerk there LOL...

I find personal comments shocking myself. But people are very passionate about BB on this forum.

we should only be commenting on their behaviour in the house
This is something I have always said concerning the show. Instead people bring in their own prejudices or value judgements on the outside to judge people when all we know (relatively) fully is what actually happens in the house. This tabloidy element has always given the show a bad image and probably gave it difficulties in continuing.
