'Oddworld' announcement imminent?
By Liam Martin, Gaming Reporter

GamingSpeculation that a new Oddworld game is due to be announced is growing following the emergence of a new website and cryptic Tweets.

The series mascot Abe Mudokon, who featured in the games Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus, has recently been given a Twitter account, which teases an announcement within the next 48 hours.

"In less than 48hrs, the truth will start to come out.... Sssssssssh," reads a recent post.

The official Oddworld Inhabitants website is also advertising that a brand new site is coming soon.

The last official game in the series was Stranger's Wrath on the Xbox, while Abe's Exoddus was recently made available on the PSN.

I loved the Oddowrd games so much on the PS1, I really do hope they bring it back.

Really hope it's coming back. It was originally designed to be a five parter but EA refused to fund it any further after Strangers Wrath didn't wrack up sixteen billion sales in the first day, IIRC.

The two xbox entries were amazing. Genius, even. Massively underappreciated.

Hopefully this doesn't end up on the Wii.

Oddworld Returns

Oddworld Inhabitants has teamed up with UK-based game developer Just Add Water to create multiple Oddworld titles in the franchise for multiple platforms, the studio announced today.

The series made its famous debut as a 2D platformer back in 1997 with Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee for PlayStation. There were no details about what these new titles will be, but Just Add Water says they will be dripping out information over the coming weeks and months about the projects.

"To work with the team at Oddworld has been amazing; being able to tap the minds of Lorne Lanning, Sherry McKenna and others has been fantastic," said Just Add Water's Managing Director Stewart Gilray.

"It's almost symbiotic in that when something moves forward on any of the projects we just start chatting about new items, or what if we do this," he added. "We're all extremely excited to breathe life into the Oddworld universe and indeed to let it breathe life into us."

The last title released in the series was Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath for the original Xbox in 2005. Just Add Water's last project was Gravity Crash for PlayStation 3.

Woot! Here's hoping for a new Abe game.
