They are both awful but American Dad! at least has less of a reliance on such formulaic joke telling scenarios. And Roger is a great character. If that's the name of the gay alien. I get confused.

Family Guy is just embarrasing. It looses most of it's entertainment value once you finish puberty and begin to understand the more subtle humor in both The Simpsons and South Park.

Mm, I picked American Dad because of the better characters. There at least seems to be some [albeit very predictable RAH AMERICA'S BAD AND EVIL RAH] politics and message to the show, rather than directionless swipes at celebrities.

Family Guy for me. Juvenile unsubtle humour is the way to go. Love it!

Family Guy was great the first four seasons. But it's really gone down hill. As has The Simpsons. I've never been an American Dad fan.

South Park, however, cracks me up.

Family Guy has gone slightly downhill, but I still love it. The Simpsons on the other hand, is nowhere near as good as it was, the new episodes are awful

For the last few years I agree but I think Simpsons is really starting to pick itself up again, although I watch it more out of tradition rather then a real love for it these days.

I love South Park but the past one or two seasons have been off apart from a few instances. Family Guy's the same really, American Dad is quite consistent though.

I think I'm the opposite, I was still enjoying it when people first started saying how it was going downhill, but recently I think it's been a lot poorer.

The writing has severely gone down hill. They took 'random moment' characters like Herbert the Pervert and the Monkey in Chris's closet and completely overused them. It's gotten so bad as of recent that they cut away to a 6 minute clip of Conway Twitty. They tried that once for 20 seconds and it was funny. It really shows they're grasping at straws. The show really is not up to par with the first three or four seasons.

I can't really comment on American Dad's quality, as I don't go out of my way to watch it anymore.

I do kind of like the Cleveland Show, though. It reminds me of the "Post-Return" early Family Guy season. It's not bad.

American Dad wipes the floor with Family Guy. Every new episode I see of FG I end up laughing less and less. American Dad has the better characters and writing I think. FG relies too much on Stewie, Quagmire and random jokes that try to be funny by just being random.

I prefer Family Guy and I disagreed with people saying it had gone downhill from the first couple of series because IMO it had gotten a lot better, it had really found itself in terms of characters (making Stewie an outrageous homosexual > Stewie the matricidal wannabe ruler of the world) and the jokes were a lot sharper and it appealed to my sense of humour completely. I do think that the quality has started to go downhill though which I think is probably because of Family Guy family spawning American Dad and the Cleveland Show - the attention's on three projects instead of one. Plus add on the fact that Seth Green's had Robot Chicken on the go for a while, Mila Kunis has been making films and so on it's meant that the show's relied mostly on Seth MacFarlane voicing Brian, Stewie, Peter, Quagmire etc, Alex Borstein as Lois and the rest of the occasional cast like Patrick Warburton having to fill in for the lack of Meg and Chris for episodes at a time. At least that's how it seems to me, I don't know if that's the reality of the situation, but it just feels as though episodes are slowly being put out and are relying on purely Seth MacFarlane, and it's not great watching a one man show. It's gotten to the stage where I can watch a new episode and not even laugh once :/

I wish they'd do alternate weeks its annoying them showing both episodes one Sunday and then having a 2 week break.

I have less respect for Seth MacFarlane than the dirt on my shoes.

Shaun

American Dad is infinitely better. The jokes are more satirical, more political and more to do with everyday eventualities, and the characters are much more naturally funny. With Family Guy it's just 300 cultural references in a clumsy attempt to draw attention away from the sheer fact that the show has nothing left to say. (not to say it's always been bad - I liked the first four series)

hiya Mr. Contradiction xxx

and I have to disagree about Stewie. The wannabe dictator was much more amusing than "oh lol he's gay x"

I didn't give American Dad a proper chance last time I posted in this thread, but now I have I think it's 100x better. I think the characters have been developed better, the jokes are better and the storylines are better.

Roger > Stewie

Yeah, I've watched some of the recent Family Guy episodes and... it's kindof painful to watch now. Rogers one of my favourite characters of all time.

Easily American Dad. Family Guy has stopped appealing to me.

I haven't really found American Dad all that funny when I have bothered to watch it in the past. I just wrote it off as it being essentially the same as Family Guy but without cutaway gags and shizzle. :/

I might give it a chance. But I love Family Guy to bits. I can't wait for the new Star Wars episode. :')
