I've got in tonight and have discovered that I've somehow hurt my foot. Well it's not my foot, it just above it. You know the way you have your foot, and there is a bone just above it.
http://acupuncturemommy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/foot.jpg
The bone that leads from below the bottom end of that picture up until your big toe (no that is not my foot in the picture). Well that anyway, it is killing me. I'm in real pain here. I don't think we've got any painkillers cos I've already looked. Is there something else I can take to kill the pain :(
I was plannin on posting this in the Haus, the new version of it anyway, but they are being weird and just posting gifs in there.

It probably just be a strained muscle or something which can randomly happen, maybe if you steep it in warm water it might relax the muscle and ease the pain a bit. Did you drop anything on it or bang it anywhere?

Does anyone know the name of the bone?

It is your metatarsal.

All is ok then. It is an honor to have possibly broken the same bone as David Beckham
You have only bruised it
you must man up
Locke.
19-07-2010, 02:52 AM
It is broken.
I must go the hospital first thing in the morning
Jessica.
19-07-2010, 02:53 AM
If you can move your toe then the bone is not broken.
Locke.

It is sprained then
It is bruised and the doctor will just say " you came all the way here and wasted by time for a small bruise like that! you make me sick " then ban you from all hospitals across the country

Strain, Sprain, torn ligament, bruise or fracture - Treatment is the same till you get it checked out by a doc.
RICE
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.
Being able to move a bone is not a good indicator of not having a fracture. People can often move fractured bones, it just hurts a little more.
Pain is good for you, lets you know your still alive.

And you should have got here sooner Shasown, it could have been an emergency.

Rice... What do I do? Just stick my foot in a bowl of rice?
Ice is cold, I'm not going near that.

Why would you put your foot in a bowl of rice?
Ice would be good.

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
Not only will the ice help relieve pain it will also help reduce swelling, if you cant hack having a bit of ice next to your skin use a tea towel or such like to hold a bag of frozen veg etc over the area

But you're the one with the foot problem so why you posting pictures of his foot, and more importantly why was you with him to do it?
I didn't get that rice thing either. I thought Shasown was just talking about rice as in curry/rice.
That foot looks in good condition

It looks like it is infected. It is going blue.
Must be smithy's foot then
Seek medical help ASAP and for who ever foot that it is they should be proud it's not a bad looking foot.

You really are not the brightest are you Thomas! Shasown made it perfectly clear what RICE stood for!

I had the same thing a couple of months ago when I tripped over the dog and did something weird to my foot like that, was hurting like a bastard on that bone. I rubbed ibuprofen gel on it twice a day for about 10 days and it eventually got better :) If it's swollen as well though you really need to man up and stick some ice on it, it'll help.

Only 1 option, amputation......

Alternatively - they may smash the foot with a big heavy mallet to break the bone (in case not already broken) in order to reset it! For medical reasons - they will not be able to provide anaesthesia - so you will have to grit your teeth, and put on a brave face - will only take about 30 mins! :joker::joker:

You people are all over exagerating there is not much wrong with my metertarsal I don't know why you're all making such a big fuss. I made it perfectly clear that I'd manned up enough to control this situation.
Anyway. It isn't as bad today but still hurts more than the regular metertarsal. And no I haven't been the hospital and don't plan on going.
