Big Brother: Housemates to be temporarily released from the house

19/07/2010

‘Big Brother’ housemates will be temporarily released from the house for the first time.

The housemates will be allowed to exit the ‘Big Brother’ house later in the series to perform an all-singing, all-dancing task based on the musical TV show ‘Glee’ in front of their fans.

A source revealed: "This should be one of the most fun tasks in the series, which all ‘Glee’ fans will love. ‘Glee’ has been the TV hit of the year, so it's only right that the ‘Big Brother’ housemates get involved."

The source refused to reveal details of the routine saying: "We can't reveal what the challenge will involve because we are trying to keep it secret. But it will involve the housemates singing. It will be ‘High School Musical’ meets ‘Glee’ meets ‘Big Brother’. Let's hope all the housemates are Gleeks!"

However it is believed that the housemates - coached by ‘Pineapple Dance Studio’ star Andrew Stone – will perform a song and dance routine to the hit song ‘Don’t Stop Believin’.

The singing challenge based around the hit US musical comedy series will be judged by fans who will decide if the housemates deserve the prize of a luxury budget or if they will have to survive on rations in the house.

What's the point? I thought the show was about being locked up with no contact with the outside world. Just release them everyday and let them come back at night.

Defeating the purpose of the show (again)

It could work as well as Ben's stand-up a few weeks back but it could also go disasterously wrong and yes, it does defeat the purpose. BB should stick HMs in the house and they should stay in the house until evicted or otherwise

Defeating the purpose of the show (again)

You said it. They just cannot seem to grasp how this defeats the purpose and ruins the whole fundamental idea.
You got it.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, I was so happy, that in BB-UK they are not having any singing and dancing tasks (so fed up with that from BB Germany)

But the stand-up didn't work, it just showed their favouritism.

But the stand-up didn't work, it just showed their favouritism.

The stand-up task itself deviates from the original concept of the show, so isn't without its flaws at all, but the nature of that task meant the cheers or boos towards Ben could be disguised as the crowd's reaction to his stand-up routine rather than him as a person. If every HM does this Glee task the crowd would make it clear who they like and dislike by shouting "Get Caoimhe out!", or "Josie to win!", for example.
Ideally, they shouldn't leave the house for tasks at all, but for some reason pruducer's still haven't grasped that

Get ready to have the LF censored continually (for Copyright reasons, of course, lol)

Then you'll get a HL show tailored By Channel 4 to appeal to the teeny miniskirt brigade.

I was under the impression that the Glee series was not continued by Sky?

P.S. If Steve is still there what will they dream up for his role?

I'm becoming increasingly glad this is the final year of BB.

The fact that they have to resort to using 'Glee' to keep the entertainment and 'twist' in BB is just depressing, not exciting and to be honest rather a lame attempt at the Producers to keep the younger audiences hooked on the dying last season.

If I wanted glee, I'd watch glee. I hate when the tamper with the basic rules of BB. What happened to no contact with the outside world. This is a joke.

Nah if they have them singing or dancing to music in front of an audience they will have pre informed the Performing Rights people, because they are performing to an audience and paid royalties so no need to censor.

I take it you aint a Gleek? He can be the speccy kid in the wheelchair

Agreed, They do NOT need this type of task/twist to boast raitings. They need CONTROVERSIAL themed tasks to get them to think. Not stupid poxy music related tasks, just the producers are being lazy.

I myself could think of more daring tasts they could do to be daring.

I don't think the producers are being lazy. They know Glee is popular so they just want to interlink Glee with BB. I am looking forward to it.

Don't really agree with letting them out of the house, and I couldn't care less about Glee. Stupid idea, and it shows perfectly why BB's been axed. A two year old could think up better tasks than this.

It'll be interesting to see who puts themselves up for the lead singing parts. A good performance might win them votes but a poor performance could be disastrous.

Absolutely ****ing dreadful. Not only does it defeat the purpose on the entire show, but it makes a mockery of the fact that it's supposed to be an adult show for an adult audience. Each day I watch I feel more and more like I'm watching CBBC, it's just laughable. And as Gary said, this is probably what the extended show is for in two weeks or so.

An extended show for this sh!te? Pathetic. Laughable. Useless.

'Going out with a bang!' my arse. What a joke. I'm so disappointed this year.

This is the problem
and Glee is a show from E4
so its just Product Placement - in a way
some are not aware of Glee.

Glee is such an overhyped show, with talentless actors, and a ridiculously simple and stereotypical plot. Fine, the singing is good. So why not just make an album?

Now, the fact that BB is using the 'Glee' idea is absolutely appalling. Why stoop down so low? Not only does it completely defeat the purpose of Big Brother, but it also makes it seem as though BB look up to the trash TV that airs these days. What a disappointment, really.
