GORGEOUS GEORGE IS COOL RULA
Actress admits she fancies MP as action hots up in BB house
By Lynn Mcpherson
8 January 2006

FIERY Rula Lenska has admitted to having the hots for maverick George Galloway in the Big Brother house.

The 57-year-old actress admitted her infatuation with the MP - who is known as Gorgeous George - after getting tipsy on white wine.

Her late-night confession came after Big Brother asked if there were any contestants she'd ike to "explore further.

The fired-up former Rock Follies star replied emphatically: "Yes, George.

"He is an intelligent, erudite man whose eyes show remorse and care and a lot of goodness." Embarrassed Rula later told some of the other housemates that drink and going into the dairy room had loosened her tongue.

She said: "It makes you feel more relaxed in there.

"It's like you suddenly have voice. It's very bizarre."

Respect MP George, 51, has been flirting with the divorcee since meeting in the Celebrity Big Brother house but has no idea the feeling is mutual.

He told Rula, whose last TV role was playing Frank Butcher's girlfriend in EastEnders, that he was pleased to see her and they started to talk about their mutual pals.

The former Glasgow MP, whose new constituency is Bow and Bethnal Green, is being divorced by his Palestinian wife Amineh Abu-Zayyad. Rula, once married to Minder star Dennis Waterman, is single.

But if the actress has been bowled over by the Scot's charms, she was less impressed by the Big Brother party.

After a quiz between two teams of housemates, half the contestants were treated to fine wine, quality cuisine and music, while the others were left to entertain themselves.

Some of the girls stayed up all night discussing boobs.

The evening of deep and meaningful discussion was kicked off with model Jodie Marsh defending her assets.

She said: "There are other celebrities who say,' that Jodie Marsh she's got saggy t**s,' just because I don't pump them full of silicone."

Jodie, who was mocking her arch-rival Jordan, then claimed in the diary room that ex-Bay-watch babe Traci Bingham's boobs - which have been enhanced - were thebestshe celebritiesthat she had ever seen.

She said: "Big Brother probably doesn't have as good boobs as what Traci does."

Cosmetic surgery addict Pete Burns even suggested the house mates have a whip-round to collect enough cash for a boob job for Jodie.

But it was fake celebrity Chantelle Houghton, who has been forced by BB to tell the others she is in a girl band, who decided to up the stakes.

The promotions girl from Essex started by flashing-much to the delight of Ordinary Boys lead singer Preston.

He told Big Brother: "Chantelle's boobs keep coming out, it's funny innit?"

The Paris Hilton lookalike, who has to convince the other celebrities that she too is famous, has been busy flirting with NBA basketball star Dennis Rodman.

Meanwhile, Rula and Pete tried cheer up Jodie - by chanting. Rula told her about the healing benefits of Buddhist chanting before Pete revealed: "I chant."

"Really?" said Rula, sensing a kindred spirit.

"Yeah," he said. "******* off, ******* off, ******* off, ******* off..."

It's all gone song for Chantelle
8 January 2006

Fake pop star Chantelle has been forced to perform in front of her Celebrity Big Brother housemates - even though she cannot sing.
The 22-year-old model and Paris Hilton lookalike has been told to pretend she is a member of a band called Kandy Floss.

But despite her stuttering rendition of their supposed hit, I Want It Right Now, she has yet to be caught out by her fellow contestants - although some have expressed suspicions.

They threw embarrassed glances at each other as Chantelle displayed a rather limited vocal range and unusual dance moves.

She even forgot some of the words of the song, penned by Big Brother.

But while glamour model Jodie Marsh looked distinctly unimpressed and basketballer Dennis Rodman chuckled, maverick MP George Galloway assured her: "Very good Chantelle, I'll buy it."

Galloway then produced a vocal performance of his own, teaming up with Michael Barrymore to belt out ballads such as It Had To Be You.

Faria's struggles

However, Chantelle was not the only one of the housemates to have trouble explaining what made them a celebrity.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's former lover Faria Alam, given the task of speaking for 90 seconds about why she was famous, fell short of the allotted time.

Given a similar task, Jodie began with: "The reason I'm famous is because I'm a little bit mental..."

Entertainer Michael Barrymore chose to treat his fellow contestants to impressions of Adolf Hitler and Frank Spencer.

Meanwhile, in footage filmed on Saturday, Barrymore has hit out at the way he was "vilified" after a man was found dead in his swimming pool.

The troubled 53-year-old told fellow contestants he was guilty of nothing except stupidity over the demise of father-of-two Stuart Lubbock.

In an emotional discussion with 80s pop star Pete Burns, Barrymore said he was "sick" of being kicked around by the press.

He talked about being branded a killer, and expressed the view that the press will not be happy until he commits suicide.

He also admitted fleeing the scene of the incident in 2001 was a mistake, blaming being terrified, drunk and under the influence of cannabis, according to a Channel 4 spokeswoman.

Barrymore's career collapsed after 31-year-old Mr Lubbock's body was discovered in the swimming pool at his £1.5m Essex mansion.

Medical examinations revealed that Mr Lubbock had suffered serious internal injuries, suggesting he may have been the victim of a serious sexual assault before his death.

London-born Barrymore was interviewed by police, but never charged and an inquest in September 2002 recorded an open verdict.

The former star, whose marriage collapsed in 1997 when he revealed he was gay, attempted to revive his career in the UK in 2003 with a seven-week run at London's Wyndham's Theatre.

But his one-man show received a mauling from the critics and he pulled out after just three nights.

Barrymore moved to New Zealand, where he lives with his long-term partner Shaun Davis, in an attempt to try and rebuild his flagging career.

His contract with ITV, reportedly worth £2million, was not renewed after Mr Lubbock's death.

Barrymore, who announced he was bankrupt in 2004, is said to be picking up £150,000 for his Celebrity Big Brother appearance - which has been criticised by Mr Lubbock's family.

BARRYMORE IS PLAYING A SLICK GAME
unday Mail doctor GARETH SMITH has been on the BB pyschiatric team to offer support. Here is his diagnosis of disgraced comic Michael Barrymore

IT USUALLY takes a while to get to grips with the housemates' gameplans.

But this year Michael Barrymore's was obvious from the minute he stepped from the car - he wants to be back on our TV screens.

If there is one thing Barrymore is good at, it is working a crowd. And boy did he work it.

Never in the history of Big Brother has it taken a contestant so long to walk from the car to the door of the house. It took a member of the production team to go in front of camera to usher him finally up the steps. In his eyes he was back and back to stay.

It was only four years ago he left for New Zealand under a cloud of scandal and there was no way to judge how the notoriously hostile Big Brother crowd would greet his return.

Luckily, they seemed to have forgotten the circumstances of his departure and welcomed him back with open arms. He immediately became the bookies' favourite - but if I've learned anything on Big Brother it's that the British public aren't easily fooled.

Barrymore is a game player. All housemates had an interview to introduce themselves. While others spoke about wanting to show the public the "real" them, Barrymore spoke of "working" in the house.

He was the only housemate to use special effects in his interview. He had other "Barrymores" fooling around, giving the mes sage he is a funny guy. But it was scripted and rehearsed. In the other interviews we got side, Faria Alams' fears about being hated and Pete Burns' infected lips. Michael Barrymore was careful to avoid any negatives.

His reaction when he got into the house was also very telling. On his walk down the stairs we saw him wiping away tears of emotion yet they disappeared the moment he met Chantelle.

He went straight into "professional" mode, sizing up the competition and working out who is a threat.

It will be hard for him to hide behind a facade. I hope he has learned from his mistakes. If not, he may find the crowd on leaving the house is a lot less forgiving than the one that welcomed him in.

LET'S HAVE AN ORGY!
BY RACHEL RICHARDSON
8 January 2006

JODIE Marsh stunned housemates yesterday by announcing she wants sex with former Baywatch beauty Traci Bingham.

The Essex girl admitted: "I could s**g her in every room in Big Brother's house."

Then as she pawed at Traci, Jodie turned to sex-mad Dennis Rodman and pouting Pete Burns and said "We're going to have a little orgy. We want sex with you two."

Jodie, 27, was all over Traci, purring: "You're so pretty and your boobs are so brilliant." Traci—ten years her senior— looked thrilled and responded by groping and fondling Jodie's 32DD bust.

They entwined their legs and shared cuddles on the Big Brother sofa as Jodie moaned: "This is Traci Bingham's thigh I'm stroking!"

Big Brother bosses were thrilled at the display. An insider told us: "Romances often happen in the house but we have never had lesbian lust before."

DEN'S A SEX PSYCHO
BY RACHEL RICHARDSON
8 January 2006

CELEBRITY Big Brother's Dennis Rodman is a violent adulterer who hates women, his first wife warned last night.

Anicka Bakes says the cross-dressing basketball superstar cheated on her when she was pregnant with his daughter Alexis - and then bragged about his affair with Madonna, saying she was "awful" in bed.

Last night the former model said: "He is a serial adulterer who cannot stop having affairs. If a girl is young and pretty, he will go for it."

Her outburst came hours after three-times-wed Rodman's four-in-a-bed romp with BB babes Jodie Marsh, Traci Bingham and Chantelle Houghton.

And she warned them: "You are stupid if you go anywhere near him. You will be used and tossed aside."

Anicka had a turbulent sevenyear relationship with Rodman and the couple had a daughter Alexis, now 17.

She claimed Rodman - who was married to second wife Carmen Electra for just nine days:

GOT her pregnant six times and pressured her to have four abortions.

CHEATED on her so many times she lost count.

REGULARLY beat her. After one fight, she fell and had a miscarriage

BOASTED of his fling with Madonna and claimed the singer was desperate to have his child.

Anicka warned that Rodman's BB housemates should not believe the laid-back, loveable rogue image he has portrayed on the programme so far.

She said she was especially concerned for Chantelle who had been flirting with Rodman - one of America's most famous sportsmen who is worth an estimated £6million.

"She is young and naive," she said. "He doesn't care about anyone but himself.

"He simply hates women and doesn't show them any respect. To Dennis, women are here for no other reason than to serve him. There are pretty girls in there - and if he gets the opportunity with them, he will take it." Rodman is currently married to wife number three Michelle Moyer, although the pair live separate lives. They have a young son and daughter. Anicka said: "Dennis is an exhibitionist. If he has cameras on him 24 hours a day then he will do anything to get attention."

Anicka - who is now training to be a prison guard - met Rodman in 1987 when he was a shy and struggling basketball rookie. When she became pregnant with Alexis they got engaged - with Rodman popping the question as they had sex on the bonnet of a car.

But the pregnancy brought problems. Anicka says the outrageous star - famed for his tattoos, wearing women's clothes and dying his hair purple - appeared disgusted by her condition.

Talking exclusively to the Sunday Mirror from her home in Sacramento, California where she is now married to a police officer, she said: "He refused to sleep with me and was having affairs while I was pregnant.

"He was there for the birth but the next day he flew back to see a girlfriend in Texas. I was so hurt."

The couple had a low-key wedding in Lake Tahoe, California in 1991 - followed by a meal at a McDonalds. But as Rodman's career took off, he became more blatant about his affairs. Anicka said: "I could not begin to count how many women I caught him with. At games the players' wives sat in a certain area but he would have his girlfriends a couple of rows behind.

"He would have them in my home and in my bed. I would find their belongings and stains on the sheets. He tried to convince me they were mine."

Anicka told how on one occasion her husband left their young daughter Alexis in his car while he went inside a girlfriend's house for sex. "I came home early to find him leaving our house with Alexis in the car," she said. "I followed him and he stopped outside a house and left Alexis in the car. I went into the house where I found him with the girl in the bedroom. I couldn't believe it."

Although Rodman had a string of affairs, he insisted on having an active sex life at home. Anicka said: "If you've seen Dennis play basketball, you know how strong, fast and relentless he can be. He was all that and more in bed. Our sex was totally savage." She said Rodman hated using condoms - and she became pregnant six times. "I had four abortions and not a day goes by that I don't regret it."

It was Rodman's philandering that led to the couple's relationship turning violent, she said. "There were many instances of Dennis grabbing my neck until I was gagging for air. But his favourite thing was smacking me with an open hand." But the worst violent incident, according to Anicka, came when she was 18 weeks pregnant and Rodman was at the height of his fame, earning £2million per year. She said he lunged at her during a row about his infidelity.

"Before I could catch myself I tumbled backwards and hit the marble floor with a sickening thud." Days later, she miscarried the baby. Anicka says the star's fame fuelled his cheating, but she also blames his troubled relationship with his mother Shirley and the fact his father abandoned him when he was three.

Anicka said: "A lot of it comes down to the women. They liked his fame and didn't care that he had a pregnant wife."

She added: "Dennis did not get a lot of attention when he was young. When you come from a poor family and get too much too fast you don't have the right morals." They started divorce proceedings in 1993, but stayed together in an onoff relationship. Then, in 1994 Rodman had his famous fling with Madonna. Anicka said: "He told me on the phone that she was 'an awful lay'. He told me things like, 'All I kept thinking about when I was with her was you. She was just awful. She wanted my baby'. It was crazy, I could not believe what I was hearing."

After his fling with Madonna Rodman's contact with Anicka and their daughter became less frequent. In 1998 he had a nine-day marriage to Baywatch babe Carmen Electra - a pal of Big Brother's Traci Bingham.

Anicka said: "He called just before he and Carmen got married and said it was a huge mistake to get hitched. He said he was completely drunk. He had a bad alcohol problem at that time, but he has stopped drinking now."

In May 2003 Rodman married current wife Michelle Moyer. Anicka said: "He and Michelle live in separate houses and have a weird marriage. He sees his kids if it is convenient."

She said the last straw in her relationship with Rodman came last year when he failed to send his daughter a present on her 16th birthday. "All I feel now is disgust for Dennis. Alexis does not give a s**t about him either."

And she said: "His housemates on the show think he is wacky and fun. But I know the truth."

GOLDIE Lookin' Chain's Maggot went native to prepare for this year's Celebrity Big Brother, we can reveal.

The Newport rapper stayed in a hut in the wilds of Scotland before entering the madhouse in a bid to ready him for anything.

On Thursday night Maggot refused to reveal his true identity, despite repeated questioning by his housemates.

But Wales on Sunday can unmask the TV show's joint favourite as former Cross Keys College student Andrew Majors.

Paul Flynn, MP for Newport West, let slip to WoS that Maggot had confided in him before appearing on Celeb BB.

"Maggot has prepared himself for it as he went to Scotland and lived in a hut for a bit to prepare for the house," said Mr Flynn, who is backing Maggot to win.

"He has a good chance of winning because he is one of the few recognisable human beings in there. He is entirely normal, he will remain unnoticed for a while, but I think he might end up in the last three."

His easygoing nature - together with his admission he's "just here to make up the numbers" has turned him into 5/2 joint favourite with Michael Barrymore.

The tallest man in British hip-hop has also earned a fan in top footballer Neil Lennon. Last night, the Celtic midfield hardman said: "I like Maggot. All he seems to do is sit around smoking and drinking. He doesn't take life too seriously, he's my kind of guy."

Within minutes of entering the house in his chav tracksuit, Maggot's name was under discussion.

"The Maggot? Or Mag-git?" asked fake celeb Chantelle, from Essex.

And he's hoping his slimy nickname will put off Barrymore, who, he claimed "was looking at me funny".

Maggot, who is yet to treat the other celebs to blasts of GLC's songs, which include Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do, is also sharing the house with basketball player Dennis Rodman, Baywatch star Traci Bingham, glamour girl Jodie Marsh, actress Rula Lenska, eighties pop star Pete Burns, rock musician Samuel Preston, MP George Galloway and Sven Goran Eriksson's former lover Faria Alam. The show runs for 23 days and money raised from votes for Maggot will go to his chosen charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind.

FAKEY TRACI
She's plastic fantastic
By Zoe Nauman
8 January 2006

BIG Brother beauty Traci Bingham gives herself 10 out of 10 for looks... and its all thanks to fellow Baywatch Babe Pamela Anderson.

To win her role running up and down the TV beach Traci had to fill Pammie's old swimsuit - so she did what comes naturally to any actress in LA and called in a plastic surgeon.

After unveiling her gravity-defying curves in that famous red swimsuit - and later in the pages of Playboy - Traci didn't stop there.

Deciding it wasn't just her figure that could do with resuscitation, she slimmed down her nose, plumped up her lips and Botoxed out the creases in her brow, as well as having moles removed from her body to ensure bikini-perfect skin.

So it's not only Mother Nature 37-year-old Traci has to thank for that 10 out of 10 score.

Plastic surgeon Alex Karidis estimates the American BB inmate has spent a fortune on plastic surgery.

He said: "God doesn't create someone that thin with boobs as big as that. It would be a freak of nature.

"She definitely had the tip of her nose refined - it was much wider before. It is also clear she has had collagen in her lips and Botox. The total cost of her surgery would be around £13,000."

But Traci, a strict vegetarian of Afro- American, Cherokee and Italian descent, doesn't have an ounce of extra beef on her bones and works hard to keep things that way.

The fitness fanatic says her 5ft 7in frame is 105lb of pure muscle, honed through running, swimming and martial arts.

She takes her ethical beliefs seriously - posing naked apart from a few strategic lettuce leaves outside top restaurants to promote vegetarianism.

Traci has already swapped tips about her cleavage with fellow Big Brother housemate Jodie Marsh.

She decided to go under the knife after becoming the first black girl to land a main female role on Baywatch. The producers discouraged her from getting implants for her role as Jordan Tate, but she decided to do it anyway.

"I felt out of place because of my figure," she said. "I felt I was being kept in uniform and not being given a chance to wear the red swimsuit."

And not only to she claim to be gorgeous, but she also a perfect wife.

"I love to cook, clean and sew," she says. "And I love wine tasting."

She was married to musician and music producer Robb Vallier for five years, but they divorced two years ago. She now dates investment banker John Yarborough.

Big Brother celebrities tap into their spiritual sides
8 January 2006

Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jodie Marsh tapped into her spiritual side today when she joined a fellow contestant for some Buddhist chanting.

Actress and Buddhist Rula Lenska spent time chanting and was joined by the glamour model who quickly picked up the complicated rhythmic words.

Lenska, 57, sat in the corner of the living space and rung a bell several times before she began and was joined by Marsh, 27, American actress Traci Bingham, 37, and Faria Alam, 39 – famous for her fling with England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson – who all watched.

But the glamour model soon joined in for the ten minute chanting session.

Lenska told the women afterwards she had been a “Tibetan Buddhist” for many years but had been doing “Buddhism for the common man”, which had no hierarchical structure, for two years.

“We all have Buddhist god within us...we just have to tap into it,” she said.

“This is strictly not a religion more a philosophy, within yourself you have your own god.

“(If you) chant positive things, the universe has a way of paying you back in a positive way.”

Yesterday fake pop star Chantelle Houghton was forced to perform in front of her housemates, even though she cannot sing.

The 22-year-old model and Paris Hilton lookalike has been told to pretend she is a member of a band called Kandy Floss.

But despite her stuttering rendition of their supposed hit, I Want It Right Now, she has yet to be caught out by her fellow contestants – although some have expressed suspicions.

Michael Barrymore is the favourite with punters to win the Channel 4 reality show.

Bookies William Hill make him 2/1 favourite – but Alam has been snubbed by gamblers who don’t want to back her, and she is a 40/1 outsider.

Graham Sharpe, spokesman for the company said: “Barrymore clearly has the sympathies of the gambling public and has been easily the best backed runner since the race began, but Faria is a pariah as far as punters are concerned and they are just not prepared to bet on her.”

The full odds are: 2/1 Barrymore; 11/4 Maggot, 4/1 Preston Samuel, 10/1 Houghton and George Galloway, 14/1 Marsh and Pete Burns, 16/1 Dennis Rodman and Lenska; 33/1 Bingham, 40/1 Alam.

FOUR IN A SEX DEN
IT'S ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS AND IT'S Sex-mad house-babes jump on Den's basket-balls Freaky Pete lashes out at Jodie's girly flirting Blubbing model whips off her panties live on TV
By Michael Duffy

8 January 2006

CELEBRITY BIG Brother yesterday exploded into a bizarre orgy of sleaze and bitter back-stabbing.

It bubbled over into mayhem when house-babes Jodie Marsh, Traci Bingham and Chantelle Houghton had a four-in-a-bed romp with US sports legend Dennis Rodman.

Meanwhile during a series of increasingly vicious rows, boozed-up housemates turned on each other.

Fame-desperate glamour model Jodie Marsh burst into tears when rubber-lipped Pete Burns laid into her, branding her "a pumped up, sucked in, little piece of crud".

Jodie, whose career revolves around emerging from nightclubs wearing skimpy clothes, then wept: "It's tough being me sometimes."

The drama unfolded as the 11 freak contestants settled into their second night on Channel 4's reality TV show.

Fuelled by free-flowing wine and spirits, sozzled Jodie, Traci and fake celebrity Chantelle all leapt on Dennis. The women groaned and giggled with pleasure when they jumped into the basketball hero's bed in the early hours yesterday.

Ex Baywatch star Traci, 37, dressed in a skimpy nightie, frantically tried to pull back 44-year-old Dennis' duvet to sneak a look at his manhood. She was joined by Jodie and Chantelle who cuddled up to Dennis, kissing him on the face and chest.

Jodie, 27, was fully clothed but 22- year-old Chantelle, who kept grinding her hips into Dennis' groin as he tried to sleep, wore only pyjama trousers and skimpy vest top.

Earlier all three had been whispering to each other and saying how they wanted to look at his willy to see how big it was.

As they writhed on top of him, Traci kept saying: "Oooh, Dennis, let me see it, come on Dennis."

Another voice was heard saying: " Let's see it, Dennis, come on."

Traci added: "Black people love to get in... " before her voice became inaudible.

Despite his earlier boasts in the house that he is willing to have sex with the women, Dennis appeared to be reluctant. Traci finally managed to take the bed cover off - only to find that he was wearing white silk pyjama trousers. As the three women left him, Jodie said: "I'd love it if someone did that to me."

Then Traci asked Jodie and Chantelle: "Did you grab the c*ck?"

Earlier in the day Traci confronted Dennis about why he keeps blanking her, but the basketball legend just replied to her in disinterested grunts and snorts.

After jumping on Dennis, the three women left him and returned to the kitchen where they had a bizarrre slagging match with Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns.

The transvestite blasted them for their behaviour, prompting Traci to sit on him and ask if he wanted some "action". He said: "You have no idea how dirty I get, but here? No way," before telling her to "****** right off".

Jodie then shouted: "She was just being friendly." Traci then told Pete: "Your tits are hanging out," to which he replied: "Well, your dick is hanging out of your top as you are being a total dickhead."

The spat marked the end of a illtempered evening in which Pete sniped at a tearful Jodie.

At 1.09am Jodie and Traci were hugging in the lounge with the housemates. Jodie told Traci: "You have pretty t**s," and told everyone: "I love Traci. She's gorgeous. If she kissed me, I'd kiss her."

Pete then rounded on the Essex model saying: "You're just a piece of s**t. A pumped up, sucked in, little piece of crud." He also accused Jodie of playing the sympathy card, and said: "Jodie has to stop crying, she can't cry for 21 days.

Traci also joined in the sniping and was overheard saying: "Breakdown number two," as Jodie complained about her life to Chantelle.

Drunken Jodie had been in tears all evening as she told her housemates she had been bullied since she was 11.

As well as jumping on Dennis, Jodie, Chantelle and Traci all flirted outrageously with Preston. Bisexual Jodie was heard to say: "If he didn't have a girlfriend, I'd give him one."

At one stage, Jodie was pictured on digital channel E4 getting changed in the bedroom - and took off her knickers in full view.

Bow and Bethnal Green constituents impressed by Galloway
8 January 2006

George Galloway's constituents say they have been impressed by their MP's performance on Celebrity Big Brother so far.

They said the firebrand politician, who has been singing and dancing alongside funnyman Michael Barrymore, has shown a more "relaxed, human side" to his personality in front of the cameras.

Speaking from Brick Lane in the heart of Galloway's Bow and Bethnal Green constituency, actor Tim Harwood, 35, said: "He seems to be taking control of the show and seems not at all like I thought he would be.

"I did not know a great deal about him before this and have been quite pleasantly surprised because I thought he was a really serious character.

"He comes across as quite good fun. He is quite open despite the fact there are quite a lot of strange types in the house.

"He has been getting involved in everything and is really giving it a go. I do not know if he will win it. I will be surprised if anyone other than Michael Barrymore wins it. But this has shown him as having a relaxed, human side and that can only be good for his future."

Market trader Gary Lawrence, 50, said: "I think his performances so far have been fine. I wasn't sure what to make of him at first.

"He always seems quite stern but that is not how he is. He is having to play the role of one of the two 50 somethings they seem to have to include on these shows. I personally would not go on there.

"But he knows what he is doing and why he's in there. He seems to be able to mix well with the odder people in there. So, good luck to him."

Another trader Simon Gaze, 32, said: "Good on Galloway. He's showing people a good side to him. He looks like he's having good fun in there and I cannot fault him.

"He's completely different to what I and my friends thought he would be and we've had a good laugh particularly when he was messing around with Barrymore, singing and dancing.

"I'm not sure that he can win it because all the teenage girls with vote for the younger men but who knows? These shows have a habit of throwing up a surprise."

A dissenting voice among Galloway's admirers was shop-owner Annika Sanders, 32. She said: "What the hell's Galloway doing in there? Small business owners round here have lots of problems he should be solving.

"My friends and I watched him last night and he did make us laugh but I don't understand what he's getting out of it.

"He's supposed to be a serious politiican and yet we see him on TV acting daft, trying to find some fame. What does he think is going to happen when he leaves there?

"He wants to have his political life and he wants his time in the limelight as well. We're the ones who will pay the price."
