View Full Version : *UPDATED 29/7* My Sims 2 Big Brother House - A work in progress
I guess you could say this is my new "project". There have been countless times where I've started to build BB houses and then suddenly quit because they've taken me so long. Now I'm determined to complete this and I'm sort of recording my progress on here. :P
*None of the custom content used is my own work, so don't sue my ass*
I started this 21/7 and this is my work so far;
*UPDATED 26/7* Living area (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3555609&postcount=11) / Kitchen (http://thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3560473&postcount=16)
*UPDATED 29/7* Store room and laundry (http://thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3572990&postcount=35) / Bedroom (http://thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3576851&postcount=37) (pics below are outdated now)
OLD Bedroom - three double beds and three singles. Lots of storage space, including a built in wardrobe.

http://a.imageshack.us/img708/5387/bedroomview2.jpg
Bathroom - This is the main bathroom, accessed directly from the bedroom. Includes shower and bathtub.
http://a.imageshack.us/img710/2504/bathroomview2.jpg
http://a.imageshack.us/img198/164/bathroomviewl.jpg
Diary room - I'm not sure if I like this yet. I need opinions.
http://a.imageshack.us/img695/7328/diaryroomview.jpg
The watchtower - My own little unconventional BB idea here. Wanted something a little different so I added a two-story "watchtower" in the garden. One HM will be forced to sleep in here every night. Ew.

Outside - I like attention to detail. :3

Top down view - as you can see, I am nowhere near finished yet.

I'd like to hear some feedback! :)

Wow! I love the bedroom colours
The watchtower is wonderful :laugh2: Great idea
And I think the bathroom wallpaper is too busy, I don't think I'd like to spend long there.
Also I don't think the DR stars on the wall match up with the zebra stripes.
But overall it's very good so far, I look forward to seeing more :)

its kinda tacky looking, but I LOVE the whole watchtower idea. But the only prob w/ that would be camera's and the houseguest might get to see things the wernt suppose to through the windows. And I LOVE the bedroom. Mine only probs ar the bathroom and diary. I thinks its just b/c there is no actual theame to the house.

It's really really good, I really like the bedroom, But i'm not too keen on the diary room chair :/
Im an absolute fail when it comes to sims pmsl.
Cheers guys. I'll end up changing a few bits and pieces anyway.
I've always had an issue with the diary room 'cause I've never been able to find a wacky chair to use haha.

The kitchen is brilliant and stylish, but is there a theme your doing for the house?

I never had a set theme in mind, apart from having a modern and kinda-minimalist design to it. I'm mainly basing it on personal taste.

Kitchen looks great. The mirrors function incredibly well in providing the sense of larger space. Form and function are one in this space!

I love this.
I've always found TS2 is MILES better than TS3 when it comes to creating Big Brother Houses/Series which is all I use the game for nowadays.
This is brilliant, every part of it is fantastic.

Enid what site do you use to download your custom content?
I use ModTheSims2 but I haven't came across furniture and stuff that realistic and awesome, there must be a better site that you use.

I mainly use ModTheSims. They have some really good stuff there, but they also have some really bad stuff and you just gotta filter through. I also use Garden of Shadows and PMBD (stands for Paysites Must Be Destroyed. "Premium" custom content that is collected from different websites and made free to download)
4eversimfantasy.net is another website I use. It has REALLY good stuff on there, but most of it's premium items, so I just nick 'em off PMBD, hehe.

Well for one, TS3 seems to have lag alot and I have heard alot of people have had trouble with brightness.
I thought it was just my computer but even when I watch other Youtubers TS3 videos, they lag big time.
TS2 has better custom content and tbh graphics, The Sims 3 looks quite childish and looks like play dough.
On The Sims 2 I think it focusses more on the house which is why it's better to make BB related stuff with, where as with TS3 it focusses more on The Sims and The 'Outside' World lol
Although TS3 is probably better for Action/Adventure sort of films, I think The Sims 2 just works well if you're making a little reality show.

Aswell as ^ I'd recommend Garden Of Shadows aswell for some neon stuff and realistic hairs and stuff.
I got a nice lighting mod of GOS which adds a dawn and a dusk, Makes pictures look more realistic, Its a bit awkward to install but its a gorgeous mod.
Black Pearl Sims is nice aswell, Most of my bedroom and living sets came from there.
Holy Simoly aswell, Those lush curtains came from there, I have those in my game.

*Update*
Store room and laundry. Mostly just for "effect". The only working object is the sink, the rest is all decorative. :)
Door leads back out to the kitchen.

Technically, there will be one bathroom, with a shower and bathtub, and a toilet room in the garden.

Can house mates use the bathroom as a community room or should it be a private room?

Well sims aren't very intelligent so I should imagine they'll want a little privacy if they're taking a bath or whatever, haha.

^ Yep.
I hate it when you're trying to record a scene on The Sims 2 in the bathroom and the sim get's pissed and starts telling the other sims to **** when they are going to the piss or having a shower. LOL

What kinda programmes are best to use for designing a garden patio or a decking area? It's my next little project out the back, and I would just like to kinda play around and come up with different ideas so that I can see a rough idea of how they'd look before I actually start on it.
