Gay marriage does not exist in any country. Civil partnerships exist, but that isn't the same thing.

ha ha good point. The fact of the matter is that there are at least 2 definitions. Single as in officially for tax purposes single or single as in not playing hide the sausage with anyone person in particular. :D

Why bother trying to twist what I have said? If said gay males or females are in committed relationships and living together, then that is somewhat different to someone simply having a girlfriend or boyfriend. The same applies to heterosexual relationships, so why single out gay people?

There's nothing dodgy about it. It's just an alternative and widely accepted definition to yours, both are perfectly correct. It the interpretation which is wrong.
