I'm sure all of us are the same, we stay mainly within certain genres of music of which we would class as "favourite" and usually only listen to artists within those genres.
But is there any artist/s who is a "wildcard" - someone who you would not expect to like but do that is NOTHING like the majority of other music you listen to?
For example - if someone loved Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce ("pop music") etc but also has the whole back catalogue of say, Slipknot?

I hate heavy metal, including the 70's stuff that often gets misclassifed as "classic rock", but still quite enjoy Led Zeppelin. Even though some of the songs come across as empty virtuoso pieces, their best stuff is a lot more interesting and fun than the usual Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith and AC/DC crap.
I'm also one of those people that don't like country music, but love Johnny Cash.

Missy Elliott's probably the most standout one.

Well mine is Courtney Love. Anything by her, her band "Hole" and even the ex-bassist of the band Melissa Auf der Maur (solo billed just as "Auf der Maur") really tickles my fancy.
Love's song "Mono" is one of my all-time favourites and her solo album "America's Sweetheart" is just brilliant.

I'm an all rounder, I listen to anything but Chart music, it has to be from an artist I really like or from an artist people keep going on about...
I do admit I wasn't too fond of Rap (except Tupac and Notorious) before Eminem came along.

I never gave her much time before as I always figured I'd hate her, but Ellie Goulding has some decent songs.

I usually like Pop and Chart music like Lady GaGa, Ellie Goulding, Jedward, Chipmunk, Dizzee Rascal but a few months ago I discovered All Time Low(thanks Emily ;p) and my whole view on music changed, I started listening to stuff I wouldn't usually listen to. I love All Time Low, Paramore, The Pretty reckless, M.I.A. and lots more now.
