I am sure that some people in this country don't know what evaporated milk is, my two children certainly don't. Not used as much as it used to. Folks don't do as much cooking as they used to. So it doesn't surprise me.

I think he 'pretends' to be thick, its part of his look at me I'm vulnerable plan'.
He certainly knows everything when he blows a fuse and loses his temper, that's when the 'real' personality that is JJames comes out for all to see,not this little boy lost ploy.

I went into a chip shop about 40 miles from home, I asked for fish & chips with scraps, the woman behind the counter thought I was some alien. Fancy not knowing what scraps are in a chip shop.

Yeah scraps are the crunchy little bits of batter from the fish. They taste great with your chips and plenty of salt & vinegar.
They are really bad for you though, but not as bad as tobacco....

I thought scraps were left overs??? :conf:
we called them scatchings. They were the tiny pieces of batter which dripped off the fish as they were put into the hot fat.
They were scooped off the surface and drained. You could ask to have then put in with you fish and chips. They were free.
