Would that be why she said he is doing it for Australia? His mother seems to have an Australian accent and it does sound as if they think of themselves as Australians even though they, as most Australians had British ancestors.

Yes it is true. You can blame Christopher Columbus for descovering America. He was going to India and he went of corse. That is why the Native Americans are called Indians.

Not really. I get what you are saying but people from many different countries have emigrated to Australia in the past 200 years... There are many over there with Greek roots etc... Britain may have shipped its convicts over there 220 odd years ago, but people with British roots are probably actually very much in the minority nowadays, though I do have British roots as my parents were born over here, emigrated then moved back when I was a teenager...

No, he's Australian :D
He was born there & raised there = Australian.
His parents were born in the UK = British

He only holds a British passport because his parents are British, he will hold an Australian passport too. He is an Australian citizen, not a British citizen.

I am in the exact same position as him (though I now live here) & I am Australian, with British roots...

I agree for Australians and NZ'ers (except for the aborigines and recent immigrants) since they were English colonies.

But try and say that to a French Canadian and you better be real careful, people have met a lot of trouble from French Canadians from saying less.
Also in Canada the most common last name is a Asian last name and Canada has the largest East Asian population outside of Asia.

I'm British although I was born in spain I've lived over here since 3yrs old. My mum is British, dad spanish, the law changed after 1983, but because I was born before 1983 I had to be naturalised.

Seriously how could someone try and say he is British when he was born in Australia?

Most Australians do in fact trace their ancestory back to western Europe (especially UK). And Britain didn't exactly ''invade'' us as someone put it, us Anglo Australians (our ancestors rather) were the Brits who came here. Many Australians do have a strong connection to the UK despite the rivilry we have at sport. I personally support the English football team (along with the Socceroos of course).

John is obviously proud of his heritage and it seems to have increased since he's been in the house (surrounded by everything British) but I think he's a true Australian at heart and just didn't want that comment to come across as a ''Us against them'' message when Big Brother should have nothing to do with someone's nationality, it's not the World Cup.

Hell yeah. Mr gameplayer had his gameplan torpedoed by his own Mother. A Mother who he claims is English and wants to move back here with him in tow.

Funny, I didnt get that impression. She's sounds more Aussie than Steve Irwin and her comment about him not doing anything stupid in the final weeks was very telling.

Told ya he was here for the prize money. :xyxwave:

what are you on about? She is an oz citizen born in the UK. She's been here since a child. That means JJ1 can apply for a uk passport. Pretty simple really but somehow for you this all adds up to "Told ya he was here for the prize money". lol!! Make sense will ya?

The best hm should win, whoever it is...and I'm not saying JJ1 is. Not wanting a hm to win based on their nationally is petty and small minded.

Pointless given that in 8 bb au series I'm struggling to think of a Brit who entered.

His Mummy was talking about her babba like he was an athlete here to win the gold for Australia. Which Im sure is how he spoke about it to her beforehand. Treating it like a gameshow with a big cash prize.

She just confirmed what I always knew; he is a gameplayer here for the top prize and will play every trick in the book(sobbing, bullying HMs he perceives to be disliked, fake romances etc) to do so.

GAMEPLAYER GAMEPLAYER.

And YES the final BB winner should be a Brit not some phoney foreign mercenary who flies in and flies out. He's a lying twat.

change the record. He isn't that good looking, people support him for many reasons. You seem desperate to attack his fans as well as him by making these sweeping generalisation. Try string a few ideas together into an argument instead of trotting out the usual cliches.

Somebody obviously hasn't been watching BB. Missed him picking on Rachel, Sunshine and Corin (although Corin gave him back as much as she got), and Josie (crabgate) even though it was Steve who said it. Now even Josie is upset that JJ has not stood up to Sam for her.
