He looks 100% better with the Dickens trousers than with those stupid "cut-offs".

Steve wearing cut offs is at least understandable, but why the hell is John James not out of short trousers yet? Seriously, though the whole series he has not worn full length trousers or jeans.

Quite right! It also makes it absolutely obvious that he has prosthetic legs, something not too clear when his trousers come down to his shoes.

well, it was in reply to why both him and John James wear short pants but I would imagine short pants would be easier for Steve and would get in the way less and allows easier access for taking them on and off, he said they get uncomfortable after a while

He never removes his legs while wearing trousers.

He's still stuck in Wayne's World. I never realised the Aussies were so behind in fashion.

probably not because he's on TV but maybe he does in his normal life and that's why he has short pants. Does it matter?

he wears short pants because THEYRE MORE COMFORTABLE.
Simple as. And Im sure he wears them all the time at home too so its normal for him. Silly thing to make an issue of really. Especially in summer!

John James has the skinniest calves I've ever seen. His legs look like one of Gandhi's split in half.

Way back, Steve explained that he prefers that people know that he has prosthetic legs, rather than attemp to cover up the fact.
IMO, they are sort of a badge of honour, considering all he's been through. Other considerations aside, why shouldn't he show them off?

Okay, fingers. I take your point! I agree - he looks well in full-length trousers - but it's down to his choice, what he feels more comfortable wearing.
Douglas Bader never wore "shorts" :

I wouldnt say never, he mentions wearing shorts etc in his book Reach for The Sky by Paul Brickhill I think. How he preferred shorts when using the stump as he called it. Saved the trousers twirling round the metal tubing. (centre in the photo below)
Incidentally most of Baders prosthetic limbs were leg formed:

Plus there is also the social convention he was injured in the 30's. Men didnt really wear shorts much until more recently. As for your photo, thats a flying suit, the RAF have never issued shorts for flying.
