When John James came back from the diary room upset a few weeks ago he asked Josie for puffs off her fag, Josie was shocked and said "but you don't smoke". John James looked annoyed and said he could if he wanted.

Why is he hiding the fact he smokes? Why not just smoke? :conf:

And before some poeple say BS, he did not just take up smoking for the bit of Josie's ciggie that one time.

Maybe he's trying to stop a bad habit?

Maybe he's just a social smoker

well, my husband doesn't smoke but he used to and occasionally when he was a drink or just really wants one he'll have one. I doubt it's part of his evil plan to take over the world!

i gave up a while back and on Sunday had a really REALLY crappy day and had a fag - didnt beat myself up about it - your always a smoker, even if you do give up, you'll always have 'the want' unfortunatley

I have a mate who has never smoked or so I thought. He had one cig on a night out and I don't think I've ever seen him smoke since. He wasn't particularly drunk. I don't know how or why he did. I did ask if he used to be a smoker and he said no.

I found it rather bizarre.

I think it's because in Australia it's seen as quite a negative thing if someone smokes...It is banned from being on TV shows that kids could watch... That's why smoking isn't allowed on soaps such as Home & Away & Neighbours...

Who? John James or your husband?

Where do you get the idea that it means he has an evil plan to take over the world? :conf: :nono:

Wants to hide it from his mum.

Probably some truth in that. I have younger friends that try to hide their smoking from their Mum and they are in their 20s!!!

There is probably some truth in that too.

He's probably a social smoker who smokes so very rarely, like me. He's quite a stubborn person, and seems to kind of have this attitude of "I'm in control nothing can take over me", thus he probably doesn't allow cigarettes to get the better of him, like me. At the moment, I'll like have a few (less than 10) smokes within a month at the most, but I went the whole of June without smoking. John James is like me sometimes he fancies havin' a smoke but it's not important to him, and beyond that he doesn't rely on it, and doesn't crave it.

Why the need to prove it? :conf: I don't feel a compelling need to *prove* I'm not a raving alcoholic to *prove* I'm in 'control' of my life. :conf:

Sounds a bit like over compensation, if you need to prove it then you don't have it.

Because teens would be put off by him if he was found smoking.

The way he took a drag from the cig and looked like he was nearly going to be sick, tells me he doesn;t smoke.

He was probably just messing around.
