Although, to play Devil's Advocate for a minute... wasn't she born in Africa? I imagine if someone told her to swagger off back to Africa she'd have thought it a bit offensive.

05-08-2010, 10:28 PM
She was shocked at his behaviour towards Rachel during the task then trying to act all concerned saying they didn't want to be locked up in the room for 24 hours and then being nasty about her behind her back calling her motormouth etc.

If only Jo would say this kind of stuff to John James face i'd like her a lot more than i do, still don't mind her though.

She was spot on, good on her, and with his attitude he deserved it, she may have been born in Africa, but she is not a freshy with an attitude like John James.

No, its just another way of telling somebody to go home if youre not happy. Its just that he comes from far away.

And she, as far as I know, has always lived here. So its not the same. He flew in days prior to launch.

Jo's been spot on a fair few times now, she needs to get stuck in a bit more and then she'll go up even more in my estimation. That line was a classic!

Julie10
05-08-2010, 10:45 PM
He swaggered in and took the place of a British fan. And look at the disgusting way hes behaved. I bet he wouldn't behave like that in the Australian BB house but comes over here and behaves in a very hateful and disrepectful arrogant way. So he deserves that.
I am sure she would have said that regardless of who it was.

The very same thought occured to me

But I recognised it as spurious instantly. But I knew someone else would think likewise.

Well we should all know by now that political correctness is applied selectively in this country.

Her line about John James thinking he's a mixture of Brad Pitt and Al Capone was brilliant too.

I did say I was playing Devil's Advocate! Just pointing out the obvious for the sake of the debate, you know. Personally I'd be prepared to drive John James to the airport.

I'd say more of a cross between Brad Pitt and Violet Elizabeth Bott.

I think the big difference is that John James does actually come from Australia, still lives there and everyone knows it.

The sticky point is often when, for example, a british born person or someone who considers Britain their home is told to "go back to Africa" - which is clearly a racist jibe.

Also, she didn't speak like Australia was hell on earth.

Telling Josie to "waddle back to Bristol" would be racist to no one. Australia is the same in this instance.

That's very sweet of you, and I know this may be hard to believe, me being a girl and all... but I can read a map. Come along to wave a hanky though, if you like. If there are two of us there's more chance we can bundle him on the plane if he changes his mind.

Or it's just applied wrongly. One just knew someone would draw attention to what she said and play "devil's advocate" (to be fair).

He was being an annoying little snot for some reason.

Yeah, maybe. But it is a forum, and a whole thread saying how brilliant the comment was, I thought I'd give a different perspective!

Now I'm going to take your advice and go to bed. I might have a long drive to the airport tomorrow night, finger's crossed. I'll pick you up.

I think he said he was turned down for BB Aus house.

No wonder. He is a naturally bad tempered creature and you can tell that by the set of his face. A face shows a persons character.

I feel like you have taken issue. It's just a debate. To play Devil's Advocate means you say things you don't necessarily agree with for the sake of the debate. That's how it works. I'm sure you know that.

JJ1 doesn't give a stuff about anybody else's feelings when he's being an offensive, confrontational a*sehole, so it serves the twat right.

Yes its okay for him to be nasty but as soon as anybody else tries it they are jumped on from a great height. Its not as if she heard an accent and said that he has come from Austrailia and should go back there its so clear what she meant he should swagger back there if he doesn't want to get on with people and abide by the rules like he expects others to.

He is in our countries big brother house and has been rude and disrespectful to those who let him in and certain hms. I am sure others over here would have embraced it and got on with most people and in the end an Austrailian is in there acting like a complete ungrateful kn*b!

Oh and hadn't he tried to get in the Aussie BB house. Yes they didn't want him I wonder why? Yet ours took him in knowing this was the last BB at least for the time being.

I heard he was due to go in the Aussie house - but then his father died - so obviously didn't! He did the Brit one instead!

"Swagger off back to Australia"
nasty and cheap.
Jo keeps on about how she doesn't want to get involved and it's not "her business" but she's always giving her advice... despite none EVER asking for it. When JJ1 and Josie aren't in the room her "advice" sounds a lot like bitching to me.

I would applaud Jo for what she says, but she never says anything to the person involveds face, she agrees with whoever she may be talking to at the time. My personal opinion is that she is the biggest brown noser in the house, even worse than Dave.

I didn't think "waddle back to Australia" was xenophobic or racistly intended.

But then I didn't think that of "she should go back where she comes from" (regarding Shilpa Shetty) was either.

It geographical based, rather than on race.

Sometimes people read too much into it.

Pathetic cougar.
