How did they come about?

They came into being when they were discovered, before Newton discovered gravity people used to float about and stuff.

Nothing moved until he announced his laws of motion.

Cars didnt even have accelerators till his second law of motion was brought into effect.

Its not a question of large objects attracting small objects, all objects attract all other objects.
