the fifth is everywhere at the moment, but I've heard no great things about it.

Seen Moon, loved it. LTROI is quite good apparently. Not heard of the other two.

Glue - this Argentinean coming-of-age movie revolving around 3 teenagers. I caught it on a Film4 season a few years ago, and haven't been able to track down a DVD since.

Live! - not sure how known this is. It has Eva Mendes in it and a few other familiar faces, but as far as I'm aware wasn't a ratings hit. It's an interesting premise. It has its flaws, but as a movie about the game Russian roulette commissioned for TV it's tense viewing.

Once - fairly known, picked up an Oscar I think. Set in Ireland, follows a musician who meets a stranger and they make music together. Avoid if you're averse to soppy sentimentality.

Gegen die Wand - well it won't be well known outside of Germany, but it's part of this trilogy by German-Turk Fatih Akin that we studied for AS/A2 German. The films are really quite gritty and powerful. (the other two if I remember correctly are called Edge of Heaven (Auf der Anderen Seite) and Solino). I preferred this one.

Starter for 10 - come on. A British movie about University Challenge with James McAvoy, Dominic Cooper and Simon Woods. What's not to love?

Tell No One - Fantastic French thriller based on a novel by Harlan Coben.

World's Greatest Dad - Patchy, but quite often hilarious black comedy.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Quirky, offbeat musical/drama.

Anvil: The story of Anvil - Brilliant documentary on the struggles of a heavy metal band who never quite made it big time, but continue to rock on and fight for the bands future and for the great passion of their lives: music.

Anvil is brilliant  you really get pulled at the heartstrings wanting them to make it.

Dread
The Hamiltons

Both deserve to be watched

Oh, and an Irish one for my fifth which everybody in Ireland has seen but I doubt it's that widely available overseas - The Snapper.

Actually can I mention two? The Snapper and I Went Down. Brilliant dramatic comedies.

It's set in a similar setting as the original except it's based in America.

I don't like the look of it, I loved the original though.

Oh, big time. I was amazed at the passion and heart they had for a musical genre I've never been particularly fond of, and I really admired their refusal to bow out of the game in spite of so many bad breaks and hardships, purely because it's just something they love to do. Actually quite inspiring in a way.

Totally. I went into watching it thinking it was a spoof in a Spinal Tap way, but was quite surprised. The film must have boosted their profile though, they have quite a cult fanbase I think a a result of it.

The mad thing is that I'd defo go to see them if they played in Dublin, even though heavy metal has never really done anything for me! That's how affected I was by the whole experience. Great little documentary.

Wonderland. Val Kilmer plays porn legend John Holmes.
The Life of David Gale and Swimming with Sharks. Both brilliant Kevin Spacey films.
Switchblade Romance. A video nasty with a neat little twist at the end.

The Last Supper (1995) - black comedy about students who kill people. Stars Cameron Diaz, Jason Alexander and Bill Paxton.

Wild Things (1998) - erotic thriller. Get through the first hour of Denise Richards claiming Matt Dillon raped her and then it's nonstop 'WTF?' twists. Also stars Neve Campbell, Bill Murray and Kevin Bacon.

Spy Hard (1996) - underated spy spoof with Leslie Nielson and Nicholette Sheridan.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) - Dracula spoof with Leslie Nielson and Mel Brooks.

Transamerica (2005) - comedy/drama where Felicity Huffman is a post-op transsexual on a road trip with her long-lost son (Kevin Zegers).

Mean Creek (2004) - drama where Rory Culkin and friends go on a boating trip with his bully (Josh Peck).

I want to see Transamerica badly. Wild Things sounds interesting too, even though Denise Richards is a lousy actress from what I remember.

It was quite a good film. Didn't know what to make of Felicity Huffman's prosphetic penis and haven't seen her the same since but it was a good film.

Lol, Denise Richards was still quite an appalling actress but the twists were good.
