Phil Edgar-Jones, creative director of Big Brother 11, has spoken out about how this year’s Big Brother has taken a different approach.

Speaking to Digital Spy Jones explained; “The fact is we decided to adopt a different approach to the show this year on many levels”. “We also made a conscious decision not to waste time on punishments and instead concentrate on other things.”

We don’t have favourites among the housemates – it genuinely does not matter to me who wins. The highlights show is edited and there’s nothing we can do about that.”

Jones stated that the programme has been edited differently this year in an attempt to create a “decent soap opera”. However he dismissed the idea that the programme was not edited with an agenda in mind.

He continued: “The show is actually performing really well and many people in lots of other places are saying they are enjoying it.”

Jones has been as executive producer of Big Brother since series three in 2002, after initially coming to work on the eviction shows during the second run in 2001. This series of Big Brother will be the last show he works on with Endemol even if Big Brother is picked up by another brodcaster, as he is planning to quit this summer.

It took the wrong approach - becoming a CBBC soap opera with cheap gimmicks rather than a once loved and brilliant fly-on-the-wall documentary.

On BBLB - The only time Emma Willis looked at the camera during the 'BB fixed' discussion, was a guilty - lying- quick look 'to the left', trying to deny it!
