Corin and Mario were discussing how there was still a lot of time left just the other day, so it will be a surprise to some. I don't think everyone heard Sam's news, and Corin apparently didn't listen to Rachel.

I think also that Sam backtracked a bit, which may have resulted in people kind of ignoring what he said as well.
