So how come no one gives a shiit about this? I have hardly heard anyone talk about it, or have great reliefs efforts or anything. And apparently, its even worse than the Tsunami of a few years ago!

Whats up with the world for real? I find it really disturbing and sad, how no one really gives a damn!

WTF!!??? They wont let you write Paakistan here?????
Geezz!!!!

Oh My God, Now I realise what you meant dude.

You know what, I find it DISGUSTING that you're not allowed to right that word on here.

As Marcus once said to Big Brother 'It's Not Racist, or an issue, UNTIL YOU MAKE IT ONE'

Which is what the admins are doing by censoring this.

Whoever censored that needs to wise up.

Sadly as this forum was created for the discussion of trivia, this thread will fall on a lot of deaf ears. I must admit I haven't donated or anything yet. It's good you're trying to raise awareness for it anyway.

It's only a technicality. The word on its own is known to everyone who hasn't been living under a rock since 1947 as a racial slur. The site just automatically censors certain words irrespective or whether or not it's part of another word.

pmsl at the title
anyway
Tsunami = 250,000 people dead
Floods = 2,000 people dead

Yeah I know but the site doesn't automatically censor it, James most likely picks what is censored.

Well some Admin does and considering he's the most active Admin..

I get what you mean though.

Try asking the question before posting something like this the next time. ITs not about a death toll, thats pretty much basically starting, its about the fact that its affecting 14 million people. I dont post things that I just make up, if you didnt know that by now. I only posted this because I just found out about the scale of it!

Anyways, maybe you learned something, by Laughing so hard!

And here's a quote for you:

“This disaster is worse than the tsunami, the 2005 ****stan earthquake and the Haiti earthquake,” Maurizio Giuliano, a spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), told AFP.

He said the 13.8 million affected outstripped the more than three million hit by the 2005 earthquake, five million in the tsunami and the three million affected by the Haiti earthquake.

The United Nations estimates 1,600 people have died in ****stan’s floods. About 220,000 were killed by the December 26, 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia.

Martin Mogwanja, the UN humanitarian coordinator in ****stan, called on relief operations “to be massively scaled up”.

What do they do with the money they get given every year for this? Surely they could've used it to prevent more deaths than the last time or something?

I feel awful for the people suffering, and powerless to do anything about it.

The site does censor it. BUt its easy enough to include the name of a country as an acceptable term. All you have to do, is do an exception in the program. Likely a C++ type program. I could do that even! :)

Theyt dont get given money every year for this. Cmon dude! The estimation for this, is that the country now has just $93 million of the estimated $460 million needed to provide flood relief, for this!

This is not some small thing. Its a disaster in a huge scale. 1/5 of the Country, is under water!

They don't get given money every year, the scale of the floods have been a hell of a lot bigger than normal, which is why there's been so much media coverage.

Usually they use money and AID from the flood action plan, but there isn't enough because of the huge damage that's been done.

Bend the stats which ever way you like, but you cannot say this flood is worse than the tsunami.

I do to. There is nothing much I can do personally, than maybe make a donatiopn to the red cross or something. BUt I am just shocked at the lack of global support for it, compared to what other disaster area gets.

I think by worse than the tsunami, they mean the amount of damage done and the cost to clear it all up, not number of deaths

I have donated to the relief effort.

The World Bank is giving the PKstan government $900 million loan. The UK government has set aside over £30 million.

You have to hand it to David Cameron.

Yeah I have heard about it! The UK government have done all they can for sure. I am mainly annoyed because of those famous people, who basically arent doing anything for this disaster, when they were all over the Haiti thing.

ANd yeah, its actually coming now, just the relief effort is very slow!

There are a variety of excuses that will be used for that, lack of coverage on the news, inaccessibility, ignorance of the extent of the problem etc. And some of the publicity seeking bandwagoneers will of course be on summer holidays.

It's possible to give it a standalone exact match, so anything else with those letters in that order would not be censored.

There is no use sugar coating it partly the reason why aid is so slow to the country is due to the background.

Take for example the Haiti earthquake this year. Haiti is a rather small , quiet and politically stable country in the world and it had far more quicker aid delivered then the current floods.

If this was to happen in another middle easten country like Iraq would it still be any different?

Yeah, but thats just because they hold more relevance to us, due to our battle with terrorism, or our relationship with Israel etc.
