Farmfoods (I think they're a fairly big chain) sell them, and I've seen them in larger branches of Tescos, too. They have an unexpected bitter taste I think, and the biscuit part tends to taste a little burnt.

They've changed the recipe for HobNobs, and they're just not the same any more (I'm dipping a milk chocolate one [two for £1.00 in Iceland] as I type). Wagon Wheels aren't as nice (or big - at one time, you could hold one in front of your face and disappear behind it) as they used to be, and the better varieties (Orange and Big Country) sadly aren't available any more. Jammie Dodgers taste lardy these days, and Jam & Cream (or Happy Faces, at a push) are a more refined substitute.

Cadbury's Chocolate Fingers are excellent, but best bitten in half and sucked (they unleash a whole other flavour that mere chewing / crunching doesn't provide). Viscounts are nice, and perhaps even more so in the Orange rather than Mint variety. Ginger Nuts (McVitie’s only) are an excellent dunking biscuit, as they don't collapse and fit in the mug easily (I really NEED to see Peter Kay's biscuit discussion right now) and the plain chocolate variety should only be available to me, so that nobody else can buy them. And Lemon Puffs are excellent for eating in a routine manner that makes obsessive compulsive disorders seem perfectly natural.

But the mother of all biscuits (? or is it a cake ?) has to be the Jaffa Cake. It was McVitie’s all the way, until they messed with the sponge and spoiled everything. Now Tescos' own version rule the roost (but the 'Value' version should be avoided at all costs). Right now, M&S have their own version on two for £1.00, and they need to be tasted to appreciate the instant nirvana they bring. And they're rectangular, which makes me feel strangely uncomfortable. Their chocolate digestives also knock spots off any other brand on the market, too.

Does anyone frequent http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com at all? Biscuit of the Week is pretty essential reading, I'm sure you'll agree.

Hey Kizzy - glad to see you back:thumbs:

My favourite biccie would have to be milk chocolate digestives. I don't have them very often though.

Fig rolls are yummy! Also, I can convince myself that they are quite healthy, when I am scoffing them. Still think milk choc digestives are the best though.

And I LOVE Jaffa Cakes. I didn't include those because apparently they are officially a cake not a biscuit (cakes go hard when they are left out, whereas biscuits go soft). There was some court case, the details of which escape me, where it had to be proven whether Jaffa Cakes were in fact cakes or biccies - something to do with the VAT that has to be paid on biscuits. It was during the case that they were proven to be cakes! Whatever they are, they are very tasty, especially the mini ones.
