'I felt like, you know when you're a kid and you think it's Christmas and you can't sleep?

Um, so is Christmas fake or something Josie? :joker:

I don't understand how you arrived at that opinion.
Did you miss a bit out?

Uh, to me that reads like "when you're young, and thinking about the fact that it is Christmas, and you can't sleep..."

I think the notion Josie thinks Christmas is fake was done in the editing suite of yo brain.

Punctuation is important :D
reminds me of Lets eat Grandma! or, Let's eat, Grandma!, punctuation saves lives
But seriously, Josie is the sort of big kid who would stay awake all night hyperventalating on Christmas Eve :L

Pfft. How can Christmas be fake? Santa Claus has not tweeted since last year so he must be real.

Aside from what Josie obviously meant...

Christmas ISNT 'real'... everything about it is contrived, adopted, and invented, from the time of year it is held, to the tree in your living room, to the colour of Santa's clothes.

I mean, its a fun party season and all, but lets not kid ourselves.

What does 'real' mean to you then?
How is it anything but 'real' regardless of it's origins, who named it, what kind of decorations were invented?

Why is the colour of Santa's clothes 'not real'. It's not red colours?

If Christmas isn't 'real' then are you also 'kidding yourself' about Saturday. After all someone made that name.
Its just ink on a calendar.

Do people kid themselves about any holiday you can think about?
Is Labour day something 'not real'?

Don't answer any of these questions. I really don't need to be bored by someone probably high on weed.
Thx

Stacey.

/snip for the sake of cutting the rant short

The word 'real' was in quotations for a reason, but you are obviously struggling. You obviously completely missed what I was saying.

Santa's modern colours and look were invented by the cartoonist Thomas Nast, but really popularised by the Coke company in the 20s.

Lets not even start talking about it being celebrated on a day according to pagan beliefs, mainly because no one has a real clue about when Jesus was actually born and it was easier to dump it onto an existing holiday during the conversion of the West.

I am not saying it dosent have value or isnt fun, but the whole concept of 'Christmas' is a pretty abstract one.
