A Serbian Film - sickest movie I have ever seen

it is so disturbing and brutal and sick

for the last half of the film you will most likely watch with your mouth open in disbelief and horror (thats if you haven't switched off or hidden behind the sofa)

if you are sat thinking Saw and Hostel were sick or other similar films, believe me when I say they are like Mary Poppins compared to A Serbian Film

even the music is disturbing, the whole mood of the film is disturbing

for the last 1 minute of the credits it is a blank black screen with only the eerie fu**ed up music playing still

its as if the director knows you are gonna be still sat there with mouth open in shock even after credits have finished

it is amazingly well made, acted and directed

but

I read through your comment wondering what the film was called and it was until I saw the youtbe trailer that I realised "A Serbian Film" was actually the name, and not just a generic title lol.

Seriously though, that looks like a proper messed up film, even the trailer freaked me out :o

Nah I like over the top gore films, but even I find torture porn films difficult to watch. I dont really watch them.

Yep, read the plot myself. I don't know what to say right now.... finding it difficult to take it all in and come up with a meaningful comment. It kinda numbs me when I consider how the human race has "progressed" to this point, allowing a film like this to be made, nevermind watched.

I would normally say that I should watch the film first before commenting on it, but to tell you the truth I can't ever see myself sitting down and viewing this flick.

It does make you wonder how detached from life the people who make special effects and make-up for these kinds of film are. Like obviously it's not real, but to go to work with the thought "I have to recreate the rape of a newborn child today" is beyond me.

Its a very well made film i thought the way it is shot is excellent which almost makes it a bit of a let down that they had to resort to shock tactics when it could of stood alone without feeling the need to not just push the boundaries but attempt to stomp all over them.
There are probably only 3 scenes in the whole film that do this but thats all the film will ever be known for now.

My big reservation is about Serbia itself, and why they allowed this thing to even be filmed, especially when you consider their history.

Well yeah, the filmmakers were considering their history when they made it and that really gives the film so much power, but at what price?

Seriously, what price? I know what they were trying to say and I think it's an important film in some ways, but I still feel it's a digrace in others.

But then I have to think of my fav artists and they painted bodies, sometimes mutilated. It's a very interesting area. And the newborn porn wasn't too explicit.. well, I lie... it was mental.

And our history has nothing to do with ART. We've had so many great and successful movies representing us on international film festivals, and no one could care less about this film.

I just got finished watching this and it's definitely not for the faint of heart. It's in a similar vain to the Korean "Vengeance" Trilogy (Oldboy, Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) if anyone has seen those films. As a whole, I wouldn't say it's up to par as say Oldboy but I found the film fascinating, mysterious and very intriguing as it continued onward. That being said, there are some moments in the movie that are weak in terms of filmmaking but as a whole, this movie was not bad at all.

If you're the type of movie-goer who gets their kicks off going to the cinema and watching Transformers, then you won't even want to watch this movie. Ignore it completely.

In terms of gruesomeness...I feel like I've seen worse in movies. But this is up there, maybe Top 10. I thought the violence in Inglourious Basterds was probably worse than what is shown here. The ending of the film, however, is sicker than you can probably even imagine. It's not much of a shock as much as it is just pitiful to watch (for the characters' sakes).

As a whole, if you have a strong stomach then I highly recommend it. It's like a more intelligent version of Hostel.

this film has a lot more going on for it in terms of depth than other similar shocking brutal films. It also reflects the brutal violence that is a sad part of Yugoslavian history. lots of rubber prosthetic phalus's and theatrical blood. the main characters brother is quite fit.
