 He doesn't have very nice things to say about Chantelle & Preston, does he?

He's just jeaslous that they are getting ALL the press
I must admit, I was a bit surprised about how vitriolic he was to them. They seemed to get on okay in the house, until the banking task argument.

I think he's spot-on as far as Chantelle is concerned. In fact, that's a fairly lenient summary, all things considered. As for Preston, he's right about him being middle class with a plastic working class swagger. The "Morrissey emulator of the lowest calibre" comment is also very well observed. Some of it is a little harsh perhaps, but I can appreciate why the particular aspects of Preston's character I've mentioned here annoyed Pete so much, and I'd quite probably feel the same way if I'd been in the house with him, too.

The 'all press is good press' adage is bogus. Chantelle is essentially being represented as a dizzy, empty-headed bimbo, which (although accurate) won't do her many favours as far as her future 'career' is concerned. Chantelle is a half-burnt candle already, but Pete will still be news long after Chantelle has disappeared back into obscurity.
I'm sure Preston's record company are loving the attention he's receiving right now. But do you really think he is? He's been exposed to the nation as a bit of a sleaze, and I expect he very much regrets ever having been involved with the show already. I don't think anyone would want that kind of attention at all.
As for Pete, I think the news he'll be receiving around 7.00pm this evening will be far more important to him than the sordid, cheesy nonsense that's been written about Chantelle & Preston.

 Intelligent, well-observed comment = violent, knee-jerk response.
