I think that, that would be the only decent thing to do for the memory of it's greatest success....Jade Goody!!
Rest in peace Jade...from a big fan. x x

Jade isn't perfectly inoffensive, so she'd have no shot at winning any season of Big Brother besides #5.

It's just silly. She was a chav mess. And then she was a chav mess who got cancer. Then suddenly she is the nations 'hero'. Shallow public.

Yeah, I'm in this camp ..... the media despised her, made her a loveable fool, she overreached herself, became a pariah again, the media ignored her, she got cancer, MC took over her career and "persuaded" the media to make her a saint before she died .....
She was stupid, ignorant, cruel and spiteful, but could turn on the "image" to get the work and earn the money, which is all she ever cared about .....
To hold one's anger in over an oxo cube sounds like a colloquialism.
Anyway, you're being a bit harsh there on the memory of her

I never got the appeal of her.
Before I watched her series I thought she won cause it seemed like everyone loved her.
I wont say nothing bad about her, I just didnt care for her too much in her series, cbb or India

Channel 4 giving Jade Goody a tribute is like mafia members throwing flowers onto the funeral cortege of the boss they had murdered.
i think they will mark her contribution in some form. After all, in 20 years time if someone mentions big brother hers is the name that everyone will remember
I always liked Jade. I thought she was simple, quite ignorant due to lack of education and opened her gob well before speaking but I actually like the girl and what she strived to achieve for the sake of herself at the start and then later on for her boys. She was BB's greatest success story whether people liked her or not
As a HM, well she made BB3 the great series that it was, why wouldn't BB add that to some sort of compilation clip?

Whatever she was, she was a young person with 2 lovely little boys.
Its sad to think they will read peoples harsh opinion of their mother as they get older.
Only they will have known the true Jade though and hope they find strength in that.
At the end of the day, its not her fault how she was brought up, she didnt know any difference to be honest.
If she was alive, I think she would be in UBB, but she wouldnt win it.

My best friend died a few months ago and the country couldn't have cared less. If only he had been an ex gameshow contestant he might have had a 7 page pullout special in The Daily Star.

Would he have wanted it though? I am sure I wouldnt. We are lucky to have our lives not spread out for the world.
I know the tv stars want publicity, but not the false and rubbish stuff they sometimes print, how hard must that be?
Im sorry to hear about your friend, I know how hard that is though.

I think my point is why should I care about what happens to Jade Goody just because I've seen her on the telly? People die all the time and it's sad for thier friends and relatives. It's not sad for me, I didn't know her.
that all being said the media was right to highlight her death. On the back of it the % of young women getting smear tests has rocketed and this will surely save lives down the line

I just knew my old pal Omah from DS would have some sage words about the lovely Jade  It got us in more trouble over there tho!

Not a very good one, apparently - her violent arguments with Tweed, in front of the boys, seemingly left one of them with learning difficulties .....

That was a temporary blip - the % of young women getting smear tests has now fallen to below what it was before .....
The overall number of women in the UK aged 25 to 64 who got their NHS screenings from March 2008 until March 2009 - the period of Goody's diagnosis, illness and death - rose about 12%.
In the NHS's annual review of the cervical screening programme, this rise is largely attributed to Goody's influence.
More significantly, women in Goody's age range - 25 to 29 - who had smear tests outside the cervical screening programme in England rose by a third compared with the same time period a year earlier. This includes women who requested the screening themselves or were invited or recalled by their GP.
However, NHS statistics show that about 20% of women still did not get their regular screening in 2008/9 and about 3% have never had a cervical screening.
And although health professionals and media outlets alike praised the "Jade Goody effect" during her illness and in the months after her death, one year on, they fear it's fading as fast as it came on.
"It certainly did [have an effect] roundabout the time of her death, but it doesn't seem to have persisted," says Alison Baker, the president of the National Association of Cytology. "While it was in the public eye, it was massive."
The official statistics for the year following Goody's death will not be available until October, but Mr Music says anecdotal evidence shows that cervical screening is decreasing - and may even be returning to pre-Jade levels.

She didnt have a great upbringing herself though and I would say didnt know any better. I would say the boys learning difficulties were hereditory, Jade wasnt very bright herself.
I just knew my old pal Omah from DS would have some sage words about the lovely Jade  It got us in more trouble over there tho!
I never got into "trouble" over Goody because, as you know, I have kept an "archive" of her (mostly) public life and don't rely on the memory of TV highlights or extracts from her "books" ..... ;)
She didnt have a great upbringing herself though and I would say didnt know any better. I would say the boys learning difficulties were hereditory, Jade wasnt very bright herself.
AFAIK, both boys are doing much better, emotionally and educationally, now that they're permanently with their father ......

be that as it may, 12% rise during that time WILL have saved lives, that is good enough for me

I have to agree with this. Yeah she was successful due to BB but she also caused terrible disgrace to the show with the whole Shilpa incident and I believe was responsible over this for making the show so PC and careful and ultimately worse which led to the demise of Big Brother on channel 4

Personally, I'm with Brazier on this one - the boys should not be used as fodder for the media, which is what Goody did, so I shall refrain from further comment on this sub-topic

Yes. She could've been modest about her cancer. But yet she *****d herself everywhere still. Apprently making "money" for her kids. How are her kids gonna feel when they find out what a slimeball that Jack Tweed really is when they grow up. She started like a chav and she ended it like a chav.
