View Full Version : Favorite Movie Theme?

There are loads of movie themes, some of the most notable ones include the James Bond theme, Star Wars theme, Harry Potter theme, Rocky theme, Jaws theme, Ghostbusters theme and Indiana Jones theme.
In close second place for me is the Harry Potter theme which I adore, I get a chill whenever I hear it, John Williams did an incredible job. My personal favorite though is the Pirates of the Carribean theme. I think it's perfectly suited for the films and I think it's a beautifully composed piece of music.

I have so bloody many. Here's one of my all time favs though. It's so playful and heroic, plus it contains quite a few different melodies and they all fuse together so effortlessly. Just a great score.

It's not really a specific "theme" but this is my favourite Bond movie song ever:

Not really the theme but probably the most famous song from it (reused in Watchmen recently)

Not sure if its a theme, but I love the music in home alone. I think its really christmasy and homeish.

I'm not a huge fan of the Doors, but what a track, especially when you hear it at the beginning of that flick.

I saw the Illusionist recently (the new animation, not the Ed Norton movie) and it reminded me how much I enjoyed Sylvain Chomet's previous movie the Triplets of Belleville. The theme song is pretty fun. I really need to get this movie on blu-ray actually.

I actually like the score to the Norton's Illusionist. Philip Glass did it or do I have to look it up?

Yeah, it's Glass, I had to look it up though, lol.
Funny he's done so many movie scores. When he was first asked to write the music for Koyaanisqatsi, it took some convincing as he said he wanted to avoid getting into writing film music.

He's great at it though. Love his scores, especially the one for Dracula.

Yeah its a great song, looking through these theme tunes is putting me in the mood for watching some older films too.

The first blockbuster as far as I'm concerned. Hitchcock was the master.
I can't even imagine what he'd get up to now.

The greatest collaboration ever, but I just want to highlight the genius of Herrmann right now.

Don't get me wrong; I love the original score but please, if you're talking about a kick ass 70's track this is where it's happening. It's so out of date, so silly, and so brilliant.

I love John Williams' playful music, but this is when he knew that he had to compose something very important and profound, just like Schindler's List.

I love 80's crap, and this film is up there with the best, plus it was James Horner's big chance to show what he was capable of. I love it.
This score is why we know him now. If it weren't for this you wouldn't have had Titanic, Avatar... etc.
And Star Trek.....
