Edit:electronic cigarettes contain nicotine and are only intended for smokers over the age of 18.
About a year ago i bought an electronic cigarette so i could get round the smoking ban in the pub i had no real intentions of trying to give up but then almost without realising i had gone 8 hours without smoking a cig then a few days electronic cigs just made it dead easy for me to give up a 15 year 20 a day habit and i feel so much better for it they contain no tar and over 4000 less chemicals including arsenic than tobacco cigarettes.
does anybody else on tibb use one?
heres some info on them.
cbg8AWbpg84
The vapour that you see is the same thing produced by smoke machines in disco's the liquid in the cartridges is made up of glycerine and nicotine the vapour is just about odourless and vanishes within a few seconds.
It tastes a bit like smoking when you take a drag you get that nice hit on the back of your throat (smokers will know what i mean) and you get your nicotine hit.
There are lots of suppliers on the internet one of the best uk based suppliers are a company called totally wicked.
http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk
They sell all sorts of electronic cigarettes a good starter kit i would reccomend is the 510 titan here.
http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/electronic-cigarette-starter-kits/titan/wicked-510-titan-e-ni-or-electronic-product.html
S6XzhEkUTFo
You will also need to buy a bottle of e-liquid to keep topping up the cartridges on your ecig they come in all sorts of weird and wonderful flavours and varying nicotine strengths ie. 11mg,18mg,36,mg
im pretty boring i tend to stick to the tobacco tasting liquids like the one here.
http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/totally-wicked-eliquid/totally-wicked-e-liquid/electronic-cigarette-10ml-totally-product.html
There is a bit of a learning curve to using ecigs but they really are worth it this forum has a lot of info and a lot of people willing to help.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/
If anybody on here needs any more info or help im more than willing to help out ecigs have become a bit of a hobby of mine.

Hi Bob - I've ecig'd for about a year too. Never intended to quit, just to cut-down. Also - I can use it at non-smoker folks' homes I know when having a night-in without having to go down flights of stairs/go out in pouring rain.
I find I can stay to one or 2 real ones a day with my ecig. That's until you have a bevvie or 12 then I'm back as bad as ever.

I consider myself as a heavy smoker but I'm not so tempted by this idea. I should try tho, it won't kill me.

glad to find another ecigger i had no intention of giving up or even cutting down i got my first ecig purely so i could sit at the bar in my local and vape away while all my mates had to go out in the rain to smoke.
I was amazed to be honest i gave up by accident by just preffering to use my ecig.
The thing is even if it only halfs the amount you smoke thats worth a hell of a lot never mind the bucketloads of cash it saves you in the long run.
Its the best thing i ever came across on the net i recommend it to anybody that smokes i love my screwdriver ecig :)
I consider myself as a heavy smoker but I'm not so tempted by this idea. I should try tho, it won't kill me.Try one captain remy even if its only so you can sit in the pub and have a few drags instead of going outside.
maybe give one of these a try a disposable ecig that i guess would last you 2-3 hours just see what you think £5.49 use it til it runs out of juice then bin it.

haha, I had a look at the link you posted, do you just buy re fills for it then is it or is that one completely disposable?the one that costs £5.49 is completely disposable once it runs out you just bin it that one claims to last the equivalent of 20 normal cigs but you usually have to take that with a pinch of salt the disposable ones are pretty much just so you can try them out without spending a lot of money.
a reasonable starter kit will cost you about £35 those ones have rechargable batterys then maybe £7 for a bottle of juice so you can top up the cartridges that come with them.
They still give you the sameamount of nicotine? yes you get a decent hit of nicotine you can buy different strength juices varying from 0 nicotine up to 36mg per mil strength(thats pretty strong )
nicotine at these levels are pretty much harmless to people.
No its more Danger in it through that Death Cig.
Its Pure strong gear.i have no idea what the hell that is supposed to mean :conf:

It Does Kill you in the End.
No way ! I thought cigs were full of calcium and vitamins
I've never tried these.. I have stopped before using patches and found them to be fantastic and stopping was actually a dawdle (the first time anyway) I stopped for a year and a half but unfortunately started again and since then Have tried to stop quite a few times with no success (even with patches)
I think the secret is to actually want to stop and at the moment I don't really.. I love my fags! :)

I don't smoke but these are very interesting.
All they contain is nicotine, I know it's not good for you but it is way better than the various ingredients in ordinary cigarettes!

Bob - I've got various parts of Minis and lots of juice. Just never invested in a screwdriver as I felt it looked a bit plankish! Do you reckon it's better and might cure my addiction to do it that way?

Do you reckon it's better and might cure my addiction to do it that way?Im not sure to be honest ian i started with a mini as well and the reason i had to change it was just the battery life it was driving me mad!
I switched to a screwdriver with a 510 atomizer because i could get a whole day out of a battery and now you can buy 510 low resistance atomizers and they really make a difference you get more throat hit and a lot more vapour.
I dont worry about it looking plankish i vape anywhere and everywhere.
So if its the battery life that bugs you or if it is not enough throat hit or vapour i would say yes it might help you to quit for good by trying a screwdriver with a 510 fitting and some low resistance atomisers.
But its up to whether you think it will help really because thats like about £80 quids worth of kit.

they are better than pills or gum and patches and a hell of a lot cheaper too in the long run.

Hi Bob - thanks for the advice. I've got a USB passthru battery which I like, excepting for the fact that I end-up having to keep the damn laptop on all the time even when not actively using it!
The screwdriver was an attractive thought because of my trip to Germany at the end of the month. The folks I'm staying with are non-smokers. With the ordinary batteries for the Mini, I'll be forever recharging!
On a separate issue, I've a feeling the Germans have modified their no-smoking laws to provide that using ecigs in pubs and public buildings is illegal. I think that's what one German pal tried to explain to me a bit back in an online chat anyway.
PS - here's a Chinese site, their juice is mega cheap if you're willing to accept the potential risk re what it contains:

It sucks that places are starting to modify their smoking laws to include ecigs there is no grounds for doing so although some of the big pharmaceuticals are very pissed at ecigs they have spent billions on developing anti smoking aids and the best one was sat right in front of them and they let the chinese take over the market.
cheers for the link il check it out i have no qualms ordering juice from china thats where a lot of the suppliers source it from in the first place.

I bought 5x30ml of the French Pipe from that Chinese site. It seems fine to me. Free shipping, it arrived in about 8 or 9 days and they take PayPal which means no concerns about your card information being stolen or misused.

Probably the best alternative and i'm not sure why more people don't take this up. If the government didn't make millions of pounds from smoking I expect these would probably be used even more than cigarette. I know someone who used one of the plastic versions. It worked for them but they still turned back. Pretty proud to say I've never taken up smoking as a full time thing and don't plan to LOL.

Ive not tried it and im 19 good times.they made me stop smoking normal fags pretty much instantly and i loved smoking them! its now nearly a year since i started using a electronic fag and im under no illusions im still addicted to nicotine and still take in the same amount i did when i smoked normal fags but nicotine although addictive is completely harmless so it makes it easy to replace an addiction that will kill you with an addiction that is harmless(to you and people round you),odourless and a fraction of the price.
Theres a political reason why electronic cigarettes arent widely known about and that is ridiculous a few companys paid billions of pounds to licence other ways of giving up smoking i.e. johnson & johnson who own nicorette (inhalers, gum and patches) paid billions to the american goverment to have them recommend them as the only way to give up but johnson & johnson are owned by morris phillips the biggest cigarette producers on the planet :nono:
so the electronic cigarette a chinese invention is now ignored and sometimes attacked with false accusations by people that should know better it drives me mad!
these things have the ability to save millions of peoples lives yet tend to get ignored because they arent taxed or licensed it drives me crazy!! right rant over
so in short ben yes they are a way easier way of quitting than expensive patches or gum but theres no profit in that for the goverment so they dont want people to know.

This thread's bloody bad for my health.. Every time I see it, I have to go smoke! (and not electronic ones I may add!) :)
I tried one of these in town yesterday! There were people trying to sell them in the shopping centre.. I didn't have a lot of time to listen but I did have a shot of one. It's weird how smoke still comes out when you exhale!

Yes, I just tried one for the first time. Canada almost immediately blocked, banned, suspended them until 'further research' and cited 'the children's safety',
but,
obviously we all knew it was because the horror of losing massive tax money off of cigarettes was the real reason.
One thing that threw me off was that there wasn't that sort of.. that 'bite' from the smoke. Which is not really smoke.
You could say it was SO smooth that it was hard to believe i had inhaled anything.
Then i power-inhaled 10 times over and got what definitely seemed to be a big nicotine rush hah.
Yeah.. I think you are wise to totally accept it is still nicotine addiction but obviously this is infinitely better than smoke and tar.
There is really no comparison in terms of health.
IF governments were really interested in protecting health risks and all that they would make these tax free and just hope everyone switched asap.
But yeah I might just pick up my own and try it for a while.

I smoke 20 fags a day. We were in this bar once and this random bloke came over. Must have knew my other mates or something. He had this electronic cigarette so I asked him if I could have a go with it. Well, I nearly broke my hand just trying to lift the thing. It is like a brick. It was heavy and you'd burn a 1000s calories a day just by having to lift it up to your lifts every time you wanted a puff. I didn't feel like it did anything either. Just a pointless product in my opinion.

beware of some unscrupulous companys that will try and entice you in with a "months free trial" and the such then they start charging you per month whether you want it or not.

they do come in all shapes and sizes there are plenty that are just cigarette sized if thats what bothers you and generally the higher nicotine content you go for the more throat hit you will get.

I must say, after trying it yesterday, I'm kind of coming round to this idea. I've stopped before using patches which was absolutely no bother as there was a very good reason for it (pregnancy) and then obviously once I was pregnant, i couldn't smoke, but the minute I thought I could have one or two, I just got excited and before I knew it, I was back to being a full time smoker.. I've tried the patches several times again and it's just too easy to have a fag instead. But I do think the efag may be easier as you kinda feel like you're smoking?...:)

£50 isnt so bad really i suppose especially seeing that you would have somewhere local to go back to if you had any problems with it or needed help with it.
There is a company that has kiosks in shopping centres called smoking everywhere and they are one to avoid for sure they sell a kit called an RN4081 and they are a decent little ecig but they charge about £120 for it i got the same one from amazon for £20.
That one on totally wicked is a nice little kit (i think it comes in pink as well)
you can find cheaper ecigs if you shop around but their stuff is always spot on and they have a really cool forum too where everyone is reallly helpful.
A kit and a bottle of eliquid to top your carts up with should see you good for at least a month maybe 2 to figure out if its going to work for you good luck if you take the plunge.
It comes in pink?? pink? :cheer2:

Like you I made no delusions about quitting the nicotine addition until....
....I found out the e-cigarette kit I bought has NO NICOTINE
May I suggest you take a close look at your packaging because you may have kicked the nicotine addiction and don't even know it.
Honestly I felt almost embarrassed because when I thought it had nicotine I never thought twice or felt any withdrawals at all and felt great!
Go figure.
The psychological power is amazing hehe. I feel like emailing Derren Brown on this or something.
