The fact that CBB started. The racism thing happend in CBB. lesser reality show came about because of CBB. If they had stuck to real BB. Things would have been much better.

well yeah I agree that the decline happened because of the Jade/Shilpa scenario. I have to admit I really enjoy CBB as well though

It's a bit simplistic to thrust the blame for BB's declining viewing figures onto the Jade/Shilpa thing.

Yeah putting nikki back in bb7 was a main reason. Not that I didnt dilike her, i just hated that people had paid good money for her to be evicted and they freaking put her back in.... and youu ahd to vote her back in.
To me this ruined big brother. The same with the next I think people had to vote to fake evict someone? Scaming bastards. Suprised dave from bb11 wasent the idea master of these scams.

All big brother problems can be traced back another thing too. It's been on for 10 bloody years.

I think fight night was the start of it for the normal bb.
But i think when bb started trying to influence us who to like and started editing shows in favour of housemates they had down as the winner.
It might of worked on the idiot hl show viewers...but it lost hardcore fans every year due to it...dave should of been a lot closer to josie...but he got ignored in and out the house by BB...but josie got footage brushing her teeth or just walking around in a hoody.

Your joking right? They showed dave as a nice person in the highlights, when in fact on live feed he did nothing but bitch about other housemates and talk about the game and money non stop.

Do you know what? I'm still moaning about paying for that phone vote, then they put her back in. I kind of agree with you, it made them look cheap and, like you say, scamming.

BB fans are so delusional sometimes. The viewing figures went down because the show got worse. The Jade debacle actually got huge ratings for CBB, it was the abysmal BB8 that buried the show.

Who's delusional? I'm guessing you're not lumping yourself into that sweeping generalisation?

The Race Row was the start of the decline. Well, actually, as MrGaryy said it was BB8 - but it was because of CBB5 that that series was dire.
There have been a number of contributing factors to the decline alongside the awful production though, including:
- So-called clueless 'fans' evicting entertaining housemates early and picking Godawful winners
- The show becoming too politically correct [again, as a result of the Race Row]
- As a result of that, the show gaining a whole new target audience - children, which is very evident in BB11. Jedward? Really?
But yeah, it was mainly the production of the show post-CBB5 that killed the show and secured the axe.

This is true. BB8 with mother hen in the kitchen destroyed the show.

I really don't think it can. There were so many things built on top of each other, lots of bad luck and bad decisions. But shows don't last 11 years, dragging one out this long is quite a feat. Most (successful) series last 6-7 seasons, and that's about how long enjoyable Big Brother lasted.
I think the race row both saved and helped kill BB. It upped ratings and made the show "relevant" again, but it also sent it into trashy Jerry Springer territory.

BB4 was judged as a bore, and so from then on there was a change of emphasis from the production to make sure that didnt happen again.
Unfortunately, by putting in the dregs of society and then protecting certain HMs by eviction manipulation, the interest waned and the decline therefore was inevitable.
CBB5 was just the excuse CH4 needed to bin it.
It's a bit simplistic to thrust the blame for BB's declining viewing figures onto the Jade/Shilpa thing.
Totally agree.......bb8/9/10 were average in comparison to what had gone before. I just think the show had run out of steam. We'd seen it all before. A bit of a revival in the past few weeks, but only because people KNOW this is the last one.
If it goes to FIVE, then I see slow death, similar to other shows that have switched channels.

Jade made BB then slayed BB... nothing more to it.
The appointment of PEJ to the Endemol BB production team - he's been in effective charge ever since and is solely responsible for the occasional success but frequent failure of BB series .....
It was HE who chose Goody ..... need I say more ?

Fight night was definitely pivotal as BB became scared to lose control after that but it was the Nikki thing that killed the show. It put so many long term fans of the show off as it lost any integrity. I myself boycotted the show after that until a couple of weeks into BB10 only to discover that during my absence the Jeremy Kyle generation had become BB's target audience and they no longer disguised the fact that they were obviously shaping events in order to maximise revenue.
Who's in charge of E4? Who decided Friends on a loop around the clock was a good idea? Some terrible management at that channel
