I think it's going to be awful...and will ensure that it never returns ever again.

It wont change popular belief about the show - if not make it worse
Channel 5 isnt really taken that seriously and I doubt a new owner will change that opinion
''Oh look Big Brothers gone to channel 5!! of all places''

Err...hang on a second, I didn't say I didn't want no Big Brother. Infact I'd love it to return. But what you're not seeming to understand is the state of the channel it's apparently moving to...Five. It's hardly the most up-market, praised channel, is it? And they don't have a very big budget either and no one watches it. A show being axed twice makes it even more difficult for it to be picked up again...

I think it's great, it means we have BB again next year!

I'm not sure, I used to be convinced it was a bad thing but the last few weeks have kinda got me thinking it'll be a good thing. C5 has terrible ratings anyway so they'd love a regular mid millions rated show (it won't get 2-3 million given the drop off rate from C4 to C5) so it could have a long future on C5 as Big Brother fans are a loyal bunch. It could benefit from a new team as well since the management has really gone off the tailend the past 3-4 weeks.

BB fans will be watching it now so it's in their best interests to make it work really. It needs to work for them so they will be giving it the much needed time and effort that C4 have not the last few years

With an even smaller budget
It'll whittle out in a couple of years.
Why Channel4 couldnt of just said were taking a break of 2-3 years, thus saving alot of money, but interest would be raised again cause everyone would miss it

Jack you are looking at this Wrong.
Ch5 buying this means it goes on.
Ch4 made so many errors
I can see it getting better.
A fresh start on Ch5 is far better than Nothing at all.

Problem is CH5 don't have E4 to air regular BB updates and BBLB
BB on CH5 without a type of BBLB and BBBM will I think fail due to lack of publicity for the show.....Plus apathy from BB fans who have made up their minds CH5 will mess it up......
Thus far as far as I know there has been no confirmation of it being on CH5.......Davina said she does not know anytjing concrete let alone be presenting it.....I still think it won't happen.......

People who are referencing the budget don't have to worry, there will be little difference.

I'm hoping C5 will take it on and it will be good - in my opinion BB needs a make over and taking back to the original brief - have people growing their own food and cooking from scratch have a basic house and make them keep it clean and let the storyline develop on it's own and not to the producers tune.

Channel 5 is not the most popular channel is it? It's not known for the most entertaining shows. I rarely watch channel 5. Just a movie if they have a good one on, for sex and the city and sex how to do everything...:D
we'll see what happens. If they make the show good it doesn't matter what channel has it. Though I think itv would have made it more glitz and glam :conf:

ITV wouldn't touch it in a million years.

I think there was a rumour that ITV were interested at one point.
But seriously ITV are into reality tv. If they take the concept and revamp it it could work. They can rename it if they want. Why not, isn't big brother a bit of a copy of real world?

Some people suggest that because CH5 is not popular, then BB will not work on there....why the heck not??
If there is a programme on CH5 that i want to watch, i dont think " i cant watch that as its on the unpopular channel"
If BB fans want to stick with the show then whether its on 4, 5, or the bloody disney channel should not make a difference.
And maybe because there wont be a massive budget, it may even return to its roots where the actual HMs were the show, without all the tinkering.
Kaaarenn!

Good. I don't want it to end and if it means moving to another channel still keeps it on the TV then I'm okay with it going to channel 5 :)

That was back in 2006 [after BB7] when the contract was up for renewal, as far as I remember.
The show was a lot more popular [and better] back then.

Channel 4 would never bring it back. They've made it clear they want to move on with how many times they've said 'last EVER big brother'.
Five could be either a really good thing or a really bad thing. We'll just have to wait and see.
Patrick
06-09-2010, 06:36 PM
Has it been confirmed then Jack?
I'm not sure, they say they'll base BB13 and onwards based on the ratings of BB12 and that's not fair because if they just jump right into BB12 next year as much as I want BB In 2011, it'll kill any chance the show has of staying on air.
They should just take a ******ing break and go make a good house, find some good housemates, and sort your train wreck of a Channel out, Burn the ******ing Studio Five studio and return when Channel Five have a better reputation because atm no one even knows about the new owner because he's done a sh*t job so far, I thought he was meant to rename the thing?

FFS you can't criticise something that hasn't even happened yet.
C5 have made 2 very good reality tv shows in the past, 'Back to Reality' and 'The Farm' both of which were highly praised by the people that bothered to watch, the only problem being that not enough people did actually bother to watch, so both shows were axed due to low viewing figures.
C5 know that they will be open to criticism if they don't pull out all the stops to make a success of Big Brother IF they take it over, so am I the only one who is actually pleased it is leaving C4 to go on to hopefully bigger and better things on C5?

If it has been picked up then its never gonna be the same but you never know it might be better. One of the things most complained about is the changes they've made over the years. Maybe with a fresh start that wont be such an issue.

We can't get 5 here in Ireland (well, we can add it to Sky's 'Other Channels' but can't Sky + it). Boo.

Channel Five showing Big Brother wouldn't change it very much I feel...
Endemol own the show & make it for Channel 4, they would still make it for Channel Five... Only difference would be that Channel Five are paying for it & it would be shown on their channel...
Obviously they would have input as to what changes etc... to make, but I don't think it would change greatly...

I was thinking that bb on channel 5 could be pretty good since the person that has took over channel 5 owns some of the top rated gossip mags.

What you all seem to have forgotten is that IF Big Brother moves to Five they won't actually make the programme, it will still be made by Endemol just the same as it is now.
C4 commission Endemol to make the programme, and everyone you see in front of the cameras and behind the scenes are employed by Endemol NOT C4.
Five like C4 would just be the platform Endemol use to screen the show, and although Five would obviously have some say in the programme content, at the end of the day Big Brother is Endemol's concept, so there's no reason to think it would be drastically different to the Big Brother we have all come to know and love :)
Just let it go. Its a dead format and its already going out in pure humiliation, going to Five is going to make it a lot worse and they won't give it half the commitment C4 have over the years ensuring it will never return in the future and be successful again
The new owner is just after people to fill his rags up with, its going to be full of more wannabes and have more false relationships than ever before

That's just assumption, you can't criticise something that hasn't even taken place yet. If you dislike the programme so much why are you posting on this forum? :conf:

I don't dislike it and am watching UBB I just don't want to see it go out on a complete low on Five when noone is watching it. It can't really go much further and they've been pushing it for quite a while now. If it was rested for a bit then it could come back in a few years and be a massive success again but going to Five is just going to eliminate that. Five don't have a good track record when stealing other peoples shows
