Absolutely. I don't think I've ever anticipated the ending to a season as much as I did that one. Based on all the previews so far for this season, I am getting the vibe that this season isn't going to end too well for Dexter and his life :(

I live in the US so I get to watch it live on Showtime. I didn't start watching it live until this season, though. I had seen a rerun episode on CBS that was heavily edited during the Writer's Strike and saw the DVD of the first season at a shop for real cheap, so I picked it up and slowly found myself getting invested in the show. Best 10 bucks I ever spent.

Aren't the DVDs on sale? The 4th series just came out on DVD/Blu-Ray here recently.

Anyhow, I second the notion that the 3rd series was by far it's weakest. 1, 2 and 4 have been top notch, though.

Absolutely love this show. I thought the first season was really tense and gripping. I remember thinking how can they beat season one it was that good. Then season two came along and wham! I was in the thick of it and sat on the edge of my seat all the way through. Season three was fab, but not as good as the first two seasons.

It didn't take long to get back on track with season four, I loved every minute and that shock ending was bloody fantastic. I am so looking forward to season five.

Yeah the ending for series 4 was gob smackingly, jaw dropping! I wondered how they were going to keep it it good and gripping but the ending of series 4 opens up new avenues for Dexters character development, even though it was awful Rita dying:bawling:

I was shocked by how it ended. I had to rewind and watch the last 5 minutes again, I just couldn't believe what had happened. Rita was his life, even though he would struggle at living the normal life, she kept him grounded. I'm so going top miss having her around.

I really can't wait to see this new season. I've seen the trailer on DS and it's looking awesome. Have you caught the trailer yet? It doesn't really give away any spoilers, however it sets the platform for season 5.

No haven't seen any trailer for it yet, so it'll be a complete surprise. Can't even think where they will go with it this time round though. I guess Dexter single father of three?!

Your second point is what I am loving about this show. You really can't predict which direction it will go in. It's great when a programme comes along that you can't predict what's going to happen.

I'm looking forward to discussing it further when the season begins.

ME!

First season was the best though and it's gradually lost interest until S4 where it was simply sh!t.

S5 could be darker again but the lack of a main villain and people still refering to the Trintiy Killer could be a bad move.

Chilltown

S4...****? Those two words do not belong in the same sentence. Season 4 has probably been the most exciting season of Dexter yet. Hands down.

This season coming up is all about the after math of the Trinity Killer since Rita being slain really disrupts his world. I can easily see him having a new "Doakes"-esque relationship with Quinn but obviously they can't end it the same way it ended with Doakes so something has to change. I think Dexter will probably lose Rita's two kids and might even get caught at the end of the season. I am highly anticipating it! only 16 more days!

Oh it was the worst season lol. You could tell the writer's have started running out of ideas when they start pairing characters up for stories (Angel and La Guerta), or getting rid of characters swiftly (Anton), or bringing characters back just to kill them off so quickly (Lundy). The main villain each season is a necessary thing, and obviously they've got to relate to Dexter in some way (Rudy was a brother, Lila a lover, Miguel a friend) but Trinity pushed it too far. Dexter has enough daddy issues without seeing Trinity as a surrogate or an idol, Deb and Dex were the only people investigating Trinity for half the season until everyone else twigged, it was a lame coincidence Christine was his secret daughter, and I did not want to see his saggy backside from ep 1 when he killed that poor bitch in the bath tub lol.
The double twist in the S4 finale was good though. I was expecting either Rita to die or Deb to find out Dexter was related to Rudy/Brian but wasn't expecting both to happen. Only problem with Rita's death was there's a continuity mistake when she calls him about watching the moonlight when supposedly Trintiy killed her way earlier because he fled Miami in the early evening lol.

*Breathes* I agree S5 could be quite dark again with a lot of angst and turmoil from some of the key characters but Dexter/Quinn better be different to Doakes, it's a let down there won't be a new main villain and makes Trinity seem like THE deadliest of Dexter's foes, and I suspect some characters will have more daft stories like Angel and La Guerta

EDIT: Sorry peeps, that was a bit too spoilerish. My bad

Lol everyone I speak to about Miguel hates him! Yeah, he's a pr!ck but I found myself laughing at his random outbursts. Maybe he was so bad he became laughable.

I don't know where abouts everyone's up to with S4 in the UK but from the off I couldn't take Trinity seriously at all and it got worse lol

This season has quite an impressive cast lined up:

Peter Weller of Robocop
Johnny Lee Miller of Trainspotting
Shawn Hatosy of Public Enemies and the television series Southland
and of course, Julia Styles

I guess the lack of having a 'main villain' means it's time to up the roster. It may be a good thing, though. When was the last time you saw Dexter just go after killers like he did in Season 1? Since Season 2, he's kind of had a bit of a drought. 3 or 4 kills a season, tops.

I am getting a vibe that this season will be a mix of 2 & 4, dealing with the events post-Trinity and trying to hide his true self while everyone is on the verge of finding out about his secret life.

Season 4 was clearly the weakest out of the four but even that was better than most regular television seasons of shows.

Apparently screeners of the first 3 episodes have been sent out to critics. I'd expect a potential leak of an episode or two before it airs on the 26th. It seems to have been a trend with the past 3 seasons.

I watched the whole thing in like a couple of months. Now I am all caught up. Already seen episode 4 season 5. What a great series, and I have head a lot of OTT fans tell me how amazing it is, but I am usually disappointed, but not this one. It lives up to the expectations. Better than Six feet under even.

I didnt really see it. She seems normal to me, but you never know. She is a little bit too perfect though.

As for the Hot Latin officer, I think she is just familiar with the scene, thats why she knew so much about the killing. ANd the other guy got did, obviously because he narcked to the cops!
