because lets face it its easily the most watched show on channel 4,so now they have canceled it how the hell are channel 4 going to survive when all the other shows struggle to get 1 million viewers? i think channel 4 were silly making this decision for buisiness sense.

How will C4 survive now Big Brother has ended? They won't.
Scarlett.

Easy, they have plenty of other shows, sure there will be a hole without BB, but they will fill it
Channel 4 will die. I'm only gonna tune into it now for Deal or No Deal and Countdown pretty much. Other than that, it'll have nothing going for it.

They will now have time to show some more friends repeats...we haven't seen them all yet. Everything is good :D

They're stupid for axing it to be fair. So what if it's "not as popular as it was", it's what C4 is known for primarily and it still manages to pull in decent ratings for a 'secondary channel'.
I think they'll look back and regret this in all honesty.

Channel 4 always **** up good shows, look at BB's precursor, Brookside, axed to make way for BB

They have no other show as they cannot compete with Sky. In five years time, most shows will be downloadebale. Another format will hit with the new consoles which will include games only downloadable. But it's not only C4, the others will be in the same mess too.
Murdoch (owner of Fox) will basically change the future of broadcasting and most of the old terrestrial will go. Pay per view will become the way unfortunately.
Channel 4 had long ago strayed from its original remit - now that BB's finished, it'll become another C5 .....
Channel 4 is a British public-service television broadcaster which began working on 2 November 1982. Although largely commercially self-funded, it is ultimately publicly owned; originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the station is now owned and operated by the Channel Four Television Corporation, a public body established in 1990, coming into operation in 1993.
The channel was established to provide a fourth television service to the United Kingdom that would break the duopoly of the Television licence-funded BBC's two established services and the single commercial broadcasting network, ITV.
Channel 4 was established with, and continues to hold, a remit of public service obligations which it must fulfil.
The preamble of the remit as per the Communications Act 2003 states that:
"The public service remit for Channel 4 is the provision of a broad range of high quality and diverse programming which, in particular:
* demonstrates innovation, experiment and creativity in the form and content of programmes;
* appeals to the tastes and interests of a culturally diverse society;
* makes a significant contribution to meeting the need for the licensed public service channels to include programmes of an educational nature and other programmes of educative value; and
* exhibits a distinctive character."
The remit also involves an obligation to provide programming for schools, and a substantial amount of programming produced outside of Greater London.

I don't know what Shameless' ratings are like but series 8 is 22 eps and I'd imagine more Cutting Edge shows, Million Pound Drop and hopefully, they'll finally pull their finger out and deliver the revamped Friday Night Project that's bene rumoured for a year

I'm hoping that Channel Four actually begin to use their imagination now and actually use the talent coming through the ranks in both writers and actors and start producing good Comedy/Drama/Entertainment programs and since they basically gave birth to Reality TV they can now be the ones to kill it off

Friends is being cancelled as well...
C4 are apparently using what they spend on BB to invest in new dramas, not sure how succesful that'll be

Yeah, part of me fears/hopes it's the last series the way it's been going tbh. It picked up a little last year when they got rid of a load of S4-6 characters but they're bringing Monica back for the first ep of S8 I believe. :(
Maybe something big will happen for it's 100th episode

They will survive of course.......They just won't have the same ratings.......Getting rid of a program that still has high ratings considering the multi channel choice we now have is total maddness and I believe they will live to regret it.......Its a bit like the FA cancelling the cup final........BB was not just a TV series it was a social interactive institution.........
It will go down as the worst decision in broadcasting history.......It won't ever be back on CH4.Never.......reason!!!! If CH5 do have it and CH5 cannot provide all the trimmings like BBLB and BBBM and hours of live feed then CH5 by default will ruin the show the public will lose all interest in it and no other broadcaster including CH4 would touch it with a 10ft barg pole once hated by the public.....

It will survive. Big Brother is gone. I don't know if Channel 5 should bring it back. If they don't get it right, it will be a disaster and KILL the show IDEA off for good. After that, there is no turning back.

Channel 4 survived before BB and it will survive again,I liked BB but it was axed for a reason,I will miss it,but it's not the end of the world it will be replaced.I loved Brookside and was gutted when it was axed,but I got over it.

Personally, I'm not sure how Channel 4 will survive.
Big Brother was Channel 4's top show in terms of ratings. I did read elsewhere that Channel 4 are investing a lot of money in new Drama's and so on but, to be honest, how many of those Drama's are going to get anywhere near the ratings that Big Brother got? I don't think they will.
Therefore, personally, I don't think Channel 4 will do that well in terms of ratings and survivng now they've got rid of Big Brother.They're even cancelling Friends from E4...dear god, they may as well cancel E4 altogether with no BB live Feed and no Friends.

The inbetweeners is on E4 and pulls in about 1million
Misfits also E4 and got not even 500k
Friends yes is popular but is also E4 and gets around 300k
Coach Trip does well and i love it and got around 2million
Big Bang Theory also E4 nd probably dosent receive high audiences
Hollyoaks barely musters 1.5million but E4 do that first look which probably gets a few hundred thousand, which is maybe why the actual show isnt as high.
Simpsons meh
And This is england started of well ratings wise but isnt on that long
Come Dine With Me usually get 2million which is good
But Big Brother regularly officially delivers 3million and are consistant and never drops below 2millon, Channel4 will suffer.

They produce some of the best comedies on british TV - The Inbetweeners, Peep Show, The IT Crowd, in the past they have produced Father Ted. No other channel has even half that amount of success, and who's to say they wont come up with the next big idea? They produced Big Brother who knows whats next. If Channel 5 start broadcasting Big Brother in the summer there is no way Ch 4 are going to sit around and let everyone switch over to 5. Something WILL replace it, and it will probably be even better.
They are easily the most innovative british channel and are by no means finished.

Actually you are right, they brought us Big Brother and do like to stay controversial even though BB got too controversial. They didn't jump on the talent show bandwagon, X factor, Strictly come dancing, Fame Academy (back in the day)
They have brought us good stuff and led the reality TV crowd.
