after BB7 it went downhill
we had a few good hm;s and a few good moments after but too many Hm's used the show to boost their careers and the way BB producers tried everythign to keep their favs really ruined bb.
For me BB ended 5 years ago

It pulled itself up again for BB9 but then downhill for BB10 but BB11 hasn't been to bad. Its certainly been up and down since BB7

There was definitely a drop in quality after BB7.
BB8 was dire, BB9 was much better but below average, BB10 was a bit above average and BB11 was rock bottom abysmal.

Yes, BB7 was the last of the truly great BB series. Of course, the young teens will insist on including BB9 but Im having none of it.
BB5, BB6 and BB7.....what a great few years that was! The golden years.

altough BB7 had a predictable winner and lost a lot of steam in the last month it was still a great bb. i agee i would not included any other BB afte 7 in any of the top 5 lists

BB7 had the rivalry of worldcup, then river ireland in itv but still average near 5 million viewers during the 3 months, this never happened for a normal BB since BB7.
BB9 was the best dude! By far. My favourite.
Re-live BB9 this winter, just click my signature- Starts Wednesday @7pm :)

I quite liked BB10 but it was cos they got such great HMs in there that carried the show

i hate the fixing in big brother, which started in the brilliant big brother 5.
because they started making stories and characters instead of a natural event and contestants.
and it carried on ever since.
I agree, BB10 had some cracking housemates, Bea was a legend.

bb9 was good up in till for 4 weeks, it became deadwood when big characters were voted off. but the ratings for BB9 averaged below 3 million which is low for BB standard.

Also i remember the huge craze during BB7, it was daily front page of every tabloid newspaper like sun, mirror, daily star etc, it was talked about everywhere, won a national teleivision award along with nikki grahame, since then it went downhill, BB8, BB9 and rest got little coverage in small section of daily star, ratings went downhill.

BB7 was the last 'classic' Big Brother, CBB5 was the last ever 'classic' series, be it BB/CBB. After that everything changed.
I did love BB10 though, extremely underrated. BB8 was poor, BB9 was average and BB11 was abhorrent.
Of course, the young teens will insist on including BB9 but Im having none of it.
To be fair you can't really comment on a series you never watched. In saying that, BB9 is nowhere near one of my favourites.

I'm no teenager and I loved BB9. It was intended to be a return to form but sadly wasn't as big a splash as hoped. Then CBB6 tried to revitalise it but probably ended off even worse and that combined with Jade's death affected BB10.
BB9 would have benefitted to not being as watered down as it was in a post-BB5 fight night and post-CBB bullying scandal world. Nicole was another no no. She didn't audition for the show and thus shouldn't have gone in

I think I agree with this. I remember at the time fans wanted series to be longer and for there to be more HMs and BB7 delivered, but it didn't deliver as well as hoped. When the HMs are in the house for a certain amount of time they're naturally going to become less enthusiastic which is why it started to get boring - and then putting in 8 newbies throughout the series run to try and 'spice it up' just felt like starting from scratch again. Also, fans had campaigned for a while to have 2 houses. BB7 finally had the highly anticipated HND but the other HMs sussed it in no time so that fell a bit flat on its face.
Even though still a bit adulterated, BB7 was tamer than both BB 5 and 6, so the highlights were limited to what was shown. Putting ex HMs back in was an outrageous decision which IMO drove peopel away (that's when the rest of my family stopped watching). And love him or hate him, Pete was untouchable from the start.

BB7 is overrated and BB10 is underrated. Marcus and Freddie helped make that series, particularly Marcus.

BB9 is way too overrated and too many of the housemate were *****. BB10 was much better but was too underrated. Can't stand people who try and TELL you BB9 was the best as it most certainly was not!

I don't get why people LOVE BB9 it was only particulary good and entertaining until Jennifer's eviction.

I hated the way bb would not admit that the hms had sussed the hnd. They keept say "what the hms dont know" what they clearly did.

Oh yes, I remember that lol.
As much as CBB5 was a large part of BB's downfall it is actually more an extension on BB7's problems

Exactly. There wasn't anything appealing about it. Not only were most of the housemates crap, but it also had one of the worst winners in BB history. BB10 was the return to form from BB7 in my eyes.

i agree about this as it had the most boring winner in bb history and b block dominated it to much for me.

don't get me started on bore block! It's a shame the public ruined this series too! Aswell as BB for the two ejections of half entertaining housemates.

It did have its appeal which is why 3.6 million watched it and a fair few enjoyed it, myself included. I know it wasn't the best but it was still a good series and deserves more credit than it gets. It tried to incorporate a lot of successful elements from previous series such as the logo and theme of the series (both similar to BB5), the house was made bigger (BB3) and designed to be bright and garish (BB6), it marked the return of the divide (BB3) but with a HoH twist (which fans had wanted adapted properly rather than how it was executed for only 1 week back in BB4), the HMs were picked as colourful characters (much like BB6), and Fight Night II bears similarities to Fight Night I (BB5). You could argue it relied too heavily on unoriginal ideas, and that they weren't as good as when first used, but all in all effort was made to recapture the success and they're still memorable moments that made BB9 memorable. Also the tasks were more livelier and colourful than BB7 and 8's lull.
The HMs had more to offer than BB8's lot. Luke and Bex were an unlikely romance, Rex was an uber villain/anti-hero, Dale was like an extremely vain Anthony, Alexandra made Charley look like an angel, Mo was disgusting yet almost comedic, same with Mikey, Belinda was like Vanessa Feltz, Darnell was a volatile character, Lisa and Mario were a great character, and Sara reamisn oen of BB's best babes.
The winner isn't necessarily indicative of the quality of their respective series. Anthony was an undeserving winner (the Rachel Rice of BB6) but BB6 is regarded as a great series.
BB9 has mixed reviews but BB10 was more diverse. IMO BB10 was very stale and wasn't a great celebration of 10 years of BB, it's when the rule book really started to get ripped up, and the house was very, very basic and sh!t. 5.3 million watched but I think CBB6, Jade's death and the launch night twist caused it to drastically drop to just 2.5 million.
I agree the series jumped the shark at series 7. There were bits I enjoyed after but season 7 was it!
