GAH!! I loved the orginal TTT so I'm glad they're doing another one, at the moment it's only confirmed for release in Japanese arcades in 2011 but given the popularity of the last Tag game & Tekken in general I'd bet money on it being released on consoles and outside japan not long after after. Given the fact they took time to put in english subtitles says as much.

I think a release on consoles is inevitable. Tekken 6 sold millions as expected.

Personally, I wash my hands of this series... and Street Fighter. I might give MvC3 a rent when it comes out though.

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if they didn't release it but they did word the statement oddly.

MVC3 is looking better every time i see it, Spring's gonna be a good time for fighting games as the new MK is coming out then as well and that looks like it'll be the best MK game in years.

You might be out of luck with the PS2 but it's most likely gonna be on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

I loved Tekken 6, Scenairio Campaign's an aquired taste but I thought overall it was very good....apart from Azazel.

Didn't like Tekken 6 much, don't care for the Street Fighter cross-over games and the Tekken film was absolutely dire but I cannot wait for Tekken Tag 2!

I remember people hated the first one at the time because it wasn't canon and didn't develop stories but the whole point of it was a celebration of past Tekken characters and mashing them up with better graphics for the PS2. I hope Unknown's back!

I'm guessing she'll be back, she was quite a popular character, I'm also hoping for Jun & Michelle to come back, we've already got Julia and Asuka but they ain't the same :bawling:

Oh I really hope so. Like I said, Tekken Tag didn't really develop characters at all but it introduced Unknown - and a decade on we're still totally in the dark about her background.

Julia was an ok character until they turned her in to a denim-wearing college girl with glasses and silly plots, and Asuka had potential but was quite underused in Tekken 5 and 6 to really step up to the mark and replace Jun.

I agree with the Asuka point although I'm kind of glad that they've turned Julia into something other the Michelle's replacement. It'll be interesting to see how they'll be different to each other as most of the clone characters in recent games play pretty differently to each other now, except for Eddie & Christie.

That's true. I applaud how effective the character overhaul was for Tekken 3 (and hope Tekken time jumps again to revitalise itself at some point) but suppose some of the second gen characters were quite limited and just mere copies of the first gen. With Jin he was a composite of both Jun and Kazuya in his personality and his fighting style. Whereas Julia, King II, Kuma Jnr and Forrest Law were just younger models of Michelle, King I, Kuma Snr and Marshall Law - essentially the same characters, just freshened up a little.

I think part of the problem is having too many characters because some characters have larger, interlinking story arcs whilst others get sidelined and are there purely for the sake of being there/representing their specialised fighting style. For example, Ling Xiaoyu was always a light relief character but had a romantic interest in Jin for Tekken 3 and 4. But in 5 she was reduced to being Wang's grand daughter just for his could return, thus her storyline was about funding a time machine - absurd.

The thing you have to remember with Tekken and fighting games in general though is that more often then not the story comes second, when it comes to story most characters get sidelined in fighting games as they can't all be involved with big plots as it dilutes the importance of the core story.
