For me, this symbolises, as a whole, 1980's adolescent America.
I think it was because of this movie that many school subcultures/cliques which perhaps were seen as inferior (loners, goths, geeks etc) were given a place/role and I think also inspired and set a basis on how to 'cast' high school movies since.
Many barriers were broken by it!

Yes! These people began to "exist" rather than be "ignored".
Still there is always going to be bullying and indifference in every school!
I don't know if a Brady Bunch type school will ever exist! lol

Exactly.
I remember reading an awesome review about it once which said "The Breakfast Club: what Grease should have looked like" which in many ways is true!
I love the crazy girl, she's awesome. & Molly Ringwald was such a babe wasn't she?!

Yes! Ally the crazy gurl! I love her :) and yeah Molly is a classic 1980's esque little actress! She was good in Pretty in Pink and St Elmo's Fire too!
I like the criminal in the Breakfast Club! Just his dark eyes and facial expressions! I bet Joe Joe from TIBB is like him!

I wish my time at high school was like this! Brilliant.
The soundtrack alone makes this film awesome, let alone excellent writing, acting and production.
