The first episode aired in America last week and the second episode aired tonight, I'm about to start watching... Some info on it:


The series is a thriller, love story, and mystery with an element of science fiction.[23] Producers promised timely answers to mysteries, with some answers provided as early as the second episode.[23][24] Executive producer Evan Katz stated that "everything is designed to answer questions so you're not frustrated or feeling like we're making it up as we go along" and the writers intend to keep the viewers guessing in a "fair way."[24]


The pilot to 'The Event' was screened earlier today, to enthusiastic response from the crowd. According to our Michael Maloney, the reaction was that the show was like "'24' meets 'Lost.'" The producers said that a lot of questions will be answered in the second episode, and that "we know where we're going" with the show (perhaps a dig at the early seasons of 'Lost?').


Not expecting it to be as good as Lost (or 24), but hopefully it'll be at least half as good.

It looks really promising so I hope they don't cancel it like they did with Surface and Invasion, both of which were excellent but only lasted one season! Not to mention Dark Angel which only lasted two seasons and Tru Calling which I think lasted one and a half!

There will be about 20 episodes in Season 1, they've already filmed 13 but they got ordered for a full season a couple of weeks back so are working on another few episodes to finish this season off now.

It's not doing great with viewers in the US though so whether it gets picked up for a second season or not I dunno, but if it does then they'll probably plan to end it during that season so the ratings don't get even worse.

Thought Blake was gonna die there at the end, glad he lived.. Show seems to be going in a good direction now instead of going round in circles. Terrible ratings still though, definitely isn't going to get a second season, so I hope it's all wrapped up in the first.

Just as I was starting to like Thomas they kill him off. Not sure how they'll drag it out now, Simon's cover is blown, Thomas is dead, there must be about 30 aliens left tops. The Sean + Vicky storyline is great too, mainly because she is so fit, but the parts about Dempsey seem to be going somewhere good.

NBC is passing on picking up its sci-fi action-drama for another round.

Though the series about aliens covertly living among us started strongly for the network, it faded gradually in the ratings and, after its winter hiatus, fell below the line. Event averaged 7.4 million viewers and a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating once you add in DVR use, which just wasn’t enough for a costly and serialized show. On the other hand, Chuck just got a pickup.

Meanwhile, Dick Wolf’s attempt to move his franchise to the City of Angels failed, too: NBC has dropped Law & Order: Los Angeles.

The Event looking for pick-up Outside of NBC

Talks are underway with at least one distribution partner to take over the serialized drama. The Event executive producer Steve Stark wouldn't comment, but I've heard new original programming player Netflix's name tossed around. Word is that there has been interest from several cable and digital entities, and the Event producers. Stark said that they are exploring the opportunities with are exploring the opportunity with the "full support" of the studio, UMS. "NBC has been an amazing partner, it launched the show beautifully," he said. Added creator Nick Wauters: "We have a dedicated fan base, and we promised them we will deliver one way or another and will continue to tell our stories."

Many of you have been asking about updates regarding "The Event." I don't have anything concrete but I know there are definite discussions being had, as we speak, to breath new life into the show. No decisions have been made yet. When I hear, I'll let you all know. Other than that, today is pretty low key. I've got a lot of reading I need to catch up on.

Minutes after NBC canceled freshman The Event on the unlucky Friday, May 13, the show's creator Nick Wauters and executive producer Steve Stark told fans that there was a possibility for the sci-fi drama to continue elsewhere. That possibility is now taking shape. I hear there are talks with Syfy to pick up The Event as a miniseries. Helping things is the fact that Syfy and The Event producer, Universal Media Studios, are NBCUniversal corporate siblings. But migrating a broadcast show to cable is never easy, and I hear discussions are underway to see if it would be financially feasible for The Event to continue on Syfy. If that happens and if the mini does well, it could potentially launch another season of the alien drama. Syfy has been active post-upfronts this year. The cable network also has been kicking the tires of the Fox pilot Locke & Key, but there haven't been any substantial discussions.

I have the full season in the bank so to speak, so I do hope they continue.

I was so disappointed when the cancelled FlashForward and I've just finished 'V' series two.

I'm now at a point where I don't want to start watching a new show if it's not going to finish. However I will start watching JJ Abrams new series Alcatraz as I trust anything he's involved will last the course.
