I've read most of the comments re Cheryl's choices before i had watched the show.

Sorry to disagree, Guys! i can see where she's coming from. I do agree she discarded some people who have very good voices - even better than those who were chosen. But, IMO, what she went for was those who were a little different - even if they didn't have the greatest voices - and broke down in their performance. That's the nature of entertainment - especially on TV. People are always looking for something that's out of the ordinary - superficial as that may be - even at the price of real talent. I mean - look at the case of Jedward. How smart was Louis to have put these guys through?

So that's my opinion - that since it is an entertainment show, first and foremost - Cheryl did an excellent job - in fact chose perfectly. Those three whom she chose will provide us with lots of drama - and after all that's what keeps us watching the show, isn't it?

they're a bit similar if you think about, all hype no voice ,one trick ponies and their appearance & outfits will get them through the first few weeks..

Katie is just extremely irritating, I don't mind her voice but everything else about her I can't stand. Cher, I just don't get it with her at all even when she was "good"

Love or hate them,Jedward always had energy and determination to do their best at the auditions,boot camp and judges house, they carried that on into the 'live' shows,
They survived many weeks and are sought after for all sorts of TV now, they have just had their own mini TV series on TV, they are likely to be in I'm a Celebrity, okay, the records don't sell too well, but their tours are great successes, they have had a top 3 single and top 20 album and they are a brilliant and entertaining visual act too.
I think Louis showed good judgement in putting them in the final 3.

Now, contrast all that with 2 people who not only didn't sing but also didn't show any personality,energy, enthusiasm or even any perfomance whatsoever.That is the problem and criticism that lies with Cheryl and Cheryl only after her choices for her 3 finalists.

I agree with a lot of this, its not all about the voice if it was it would have become really boring and I agree about Jedward - they didn't have the best vocals but they were so upbeat and full of energy and always put on a great (very camp) performance and its good to have variety. The only thing that worries me with Cher is that if her voice was strained with the practise she was putting in, what is it going to be like with the live shows that are constant singing. Perhaps her voice wont be able to take the strain and that is unfortunate for someone else who could have improved each week. The thing is with Cher, she is only 16 and has so much time to try again when she could be more ready. I was willing Cheryl to say 'your just not ready yet - but come back next year'. Unfortunately she didn't cos like you said she went for something 'different' - I hope Cher can cope with it all vocally and emotionally

yeah, i agree with a lot of posts in here. i'm not 100% happy about the girls choices, but at the end of the day there isn't much i, or anyone else, can do at this stage. gamu will be back next week so there's no need for any of this.

i'm going to keep note on whether rebecca/katie become the dark horse...because that's how the x factor works. this week it's cheryl sending gamu home, next week it'll be louis wildcarding in the conway sisters.

tbh kazanne, this whole event has been such an ordeal for us cheryl fans. i'm one bottle of xanax away from preparing a 'leave cheryl alone' video.

Thanks, rhino. I love Jedward and am delighted for them - in the success they have acheived. It's well deserved, IMO.

Those whom Cheryl put through showed definite originality, as witnessed by their style and ability to write their own completely unique stuff and perform it in a unique way - and that's what sells on TV. they were thinking like rock stars. They have shown spunk - and that's what we need. Great singers are 10-a-penny - and some of them are not in the least entertaining. Just my opinion.
