BIG BROTHER CASTS ALL-SEEING EYE OVER HOPEFULS

09:30 - 02 March 2006

Big Brother has cast its all seeing eye over the wannabes from West Cornwall who tried out for the hit Channel 4 show this weekend.

For the first time in the programme's seven-year history, producers headed to Cornwall as they set about choosing the next crop of housemates for this summer's show.

The Casting Coach, that had made the Wharfside car park at Penzance its home during Saturday, was greeted by more than a thousand people eager to take their chance to impress.

Despite the chilly conditions queues began forming from around 7am, with as many as 200 people waiting in line on occasions during the day.

Those who fancied a shot at making it into the now infamous Big Brother House were interviewed by makers Endemol, with some going forward to take a turn in the travelling 'Diary Room'.

It is thought a number of people were also invited back on Sunday for a second round of the selection process.

John Barstow, manager of the Wharfside Centre, said that he watched a steady flow of people throughout Saturday take their turn, adding that events of this sort were good for Penzance:

"It was nice to see them coming to this part of the world," he said.
