I'm not buying it until tommorow, they'd take more care then that if they already decided on a wildcard and why the longer show if everything's already been decided? It doesn't take half an hour for a contestant to be announced and perform, I reckon it's to put us off the scent, they would have taken more care otherwise.

I don't doubt he will, I think all four will be there and it'll be a public vote, otherwise why the extra time? All four will perform and one will be voted in on Sunday since the only guest this week is Joe so there's time to do it.

But if they open phonelines to vote one back in for Sunday then what about the elimination. They can't have two seperate phone votes alongside eachother. The Ofcom brigade will be all over it.

How so? Forgive me if I'm wrong but having two seperate lines aren't against the rules as long as they explicitly and completely make sure that the audience knows that there's two different lines and such. It'd be messy yes but given the extra half an hour tommorow and the fact there's only one guest performer for the hour long results show on Sunday, It doesn't add up as an introduction, VT & performance doesn't eat up potentially 40 or so minutes of air time if you include Sunday.

I don't think the wildcard has been chosen, I reckon all four candidates will perform and there'll be some sort of vote (perhaps an internet based poll? probably not but still) as the time doesn't add up otherwise.

One way they could do it is to have the wildcard twist announced at the start of the show and open the lines for the four acts (after showing a montage of their singing over audition/bootcamp/judges' houses) and close the voting for that after the last of the 12 live show performances have been done, reveal the winner of the vote and then they perform; then open the lines for the main vote?
